the first race since I got my car back!
I finally got my car back after having the gears and reinforced diff installed.
I called a friend of mine with an SRT4 and asked him if we could meet up for a race yesterday. (i always give him **** about his neon and he always gives me **** about my miata
) He's never beaten me, but he did run a 13.8x last year at GLD.
I wasn't going to launch yet so we did a 10mph roll. 3 honks and we were off. First gear I pulled 2 cars on him. By end of 2nd I had 4 cars. By end of 3rd I had 5-6 cars and I shut down.
Next year comes the supercharger!

Nice kill! Sorry to say but your friend is whack for comparing ya S2K with a Miata. Kind of a wasted race anyways because unless he is seriously boostin you will own him all day long. Through his first gear, you could probably take him in reverse. LOL!

And I am definitely not either. I don't care if it is quick, it is still a CRAPPY Neon. You have an S2K, which is easily the best car Honda has ever manufactured. A Neon is nowhere near being on the same level. Other than speed, you can't even compare a Neon to a Civic because the Civic will dominate every category.

SRT4s are turbocharged...not supercharged. 230 hp / 250 tq (stock) on a 2900 lb car is pretty impressive, but overall the car is still crap. Kind of strange they didn't make it a 6 spd.

I saw an s2k around here that had turbo, or at least an intercooler in the front. Never saw it driving tho. I can't imagine how quick that thing must be.

Don't mean to take this thread in another direction, but if you had the choice between a new S2K or a new G35 coupe, which would you take? Hard choice. Here are some of my takes:
Engine: G35 > S2K
Suspension: S2K > G35
Appearance: G35 > S2K
Resale value: S2K > G35
Maintenance costs: S2K > G35
What do you think?
Engine: G35 > S2K
Suspension: S2K > G35
Appearance: G35 > S2K
Resale value: S2K > G35
Maintenance costs: S2K > G35
What do you think?

Didn't have anyone to video tape. my camera mount would have been pointless as you'd see his for for the few seconds he was next to me.

Sean and his Evo pretty much walk all over Clayton's S2K all day long. Here's the thing. Sean ran a bone stock 05 SRT-4 from a roll the other day and could barely pull away from it up to 120mph. So I don't see how it's possible for a stock S2K to beat an SRT-4 by so much unless the person behind the wheel doesn't know how to drive. I hate to seem like I'm calling BS but I just need more convincing.
I can now walk a stock S2k like a dog from a stop or roll. From 20mph roll I can walk a stock S2k by about 4 cars by 90mph.

one more OT post about this.
everything you are talking about is subjective except for resale and maintenance. and yes it will likely cost less for maintenance costs on the S2k vs G35.
otherwise, it's your opinion that the engine in the G35 is better. why? because it has more torque and more power down low? when the engine in the S2k is 120hp/liter. so things can be argued both ways. suspension even, since it depends on what you want.
so since everything is subjective, it depends on what kind of car you want. either way, the only person who should be giving advice on what to spend $30,000+ on is yourself. none of us have the same needs/wants as you do.

Guess ya misunderstood me. When I said:
Maintenance cost: S2K > G35
I was trying to say that the costs are lower for an S2K and therefore the S2K wins that category.

hah i dont always win. i just dont often tell the loss stories. i've been worked by a few cars like LS1's, a sneaky pete WRX and the like.
the gears are $600. The diff is for when I go FI, as it will help with the added power. That costed $400.
But go-fast parts were only $600.
As for 1/4 mile, I have no idea. I've heard of someone running a 13.1 with this mod, but we'll have to see. My first time out, I'd venture maybe a 13.4 @106 or so. It's going to take some time getting used to launching and practice. I'm hoping I can nail some 13.2's once I've got it down and get some decent traction days at the strip.
A week ago people running were getting HORRIBLE 60' times. Unfortunately GLD where we race is like that. It's the most temperamental track I've ever seen. It's complete luck of the draw as to what kind of traction conditions you are going to get. Unfortunately it's all we have.

Hey--I wasn't trying to be disrespectful in any way. I can appreciate your car and the money you have put into it. I am a big fan of Hondas--I have had them all my life. But, I really like the G35 and in the next year or two I will be in the market for a different car. By that time I might not have any interest in the G35, but I wanted your take on it.
No harm, no foul.

, but then my house would never get remodeled and I would have to sell the Vic first
Guess I'll just have to wait a couple years when I sell my house and pay the Vic off. Good luck at the track. I'm telling you, you should buy another camera and point it towards the back so you can get all your kills on vid.
Overuse of emoticons, but it's 5am and I've been working all night so forgive me.

FWIW an S2000 is not much more to insure than a civic.
My S2k is $95 a month full coverage. My Civic was $80 a month full coverage.

we pay $266 a mo. for two civics, both 24yrs old and clean record and that is the cheapest reputable insurance co.(USAA). Gotta love Louisiana, so many uninsured motorists(which my wife was hit by and the lady got off scott free) that insurance rates are ridiculous. State farm won't even write any new policies in the state. I live in the **** hole capitol of the US!
