owned a hatch
dunno what the guy was running, but it was him and his girl in the passanger against my 7th gen. guy ****ing revvs at me at the light, I stay silent but deadly.... The guy had a newer model hatch with kit, sounds, everything. He had a **** load of stickers in his winshield etc, promoting. I think he got sponsered maybe, dont kn ow for sure. We did one race I took off on him so it wasnt fair so we came to another light, guy revvs like a doggggg... he launches first this time and has about a 2-3 car head start on me, I flip the switch after I redline my first gear (na), spray to 2nd and we went up to li ke 80 and I got about a car on him. Next run was the last run which was onto a freeway ramp. I took off, the guy didnt do **** that time, so I wait on first gear 3-4k rpms, so he takes off and comes jumping on me like a ricer and gets a head start, I then flipped the switch and floored it into 7k rpms and shifted, the thing was the guy kept up with me til the freeway where I was gaining the **** out of him. Through the freeway to like 120 mph he was about 5 cars behind me or more but no lower than 5 cars, I slow down after IU hit 125-ish cuz the guy was far far back. I had enough so I was exiting the freeway and the guy does a ricer fly by with me going about 40mph exiting the freeway. Right before I exited I look at the ricer and he has his hazards on hahahha!!!

A) very true, but I had an old coupe with a B16A, but hatches are about 100 lbs lighter than coupes.

He had nitrous too, around here, there are alot of fake *** hatches thinking they are the ****... not going to say who, but there is alot of weak ones that look fast.

Rep Power: 0 I HIGHLY doubt that the hatch was running nitrous. If in fact he was, even on the crappy d16 stock hatch motor, the race would have been much closer. He was most likely running a B16 swap. Probably the cheapest and most common hatch swap. On a few different occasions, I have seen B16 hatches run the 99-00 civic with 50 shots. The races were fairly close but with the Civics pulling a little up top.

Hummm.... you say a B16 in an old hatch is going to need a 50 shot to keep up with an Si?
So let me get this straight. I put a Si motor into a lighter civic, I have slower car? So slow I need a 50 shot to keep up with the Si? Come on man. I had a coupe (which is about 100lbs heavier than the hatch) with a B16A and beat Si's all the time. If two cars have the same power plants and gearing, the lighter one WILL win (given competent drivers). Si’s where heavy because they had A/C, sunroof, ABS, power steering, power windows and lock and blah blah, my car was a DX and a generation earlier. If it was the same generation, a DX is far lighter than the Si.

Rep Power: 319 I'll give you this, if it is a crappy B16A (AKA 1st generation JDM OBDI series) then you are probably right, but a 50 shot with that motor will certainly beat a Si. A 50 shot on the stock D16 would be a close run with a Si in the quarter.

Oh okay, my bad... That makes much more sence. By saying 99-00 I thought you meant the Si. What you where refering to was the EK civic, made from 96-00. Generally when someone says 99-00, they mean the B16A civic Si, since it was only made in 99 and 00. The EK civic's you are refering to are more or less the same from 96 to 00.

huh? From 96-00 all the civic's more or less looked the same. That's why when he said 99-00 I thought he ment Si civic, other wise I would've said 96-00 becasue the EX models all looked the same. Here are two pictures, one of an '96 EX coupe, the other of a '00 EX coupe. Look about the same to me.
