So Hotrod and I went out and got into a couple of races won some and lost some. All of the wins were suprisingly close.

1st race was a dodge ram with the Hemi- Six lane road catch a light line up next to the hemi and a grandam Gt. Light turns green I launch bad and to my suprise both the Gt and the hemi are pulling on me (I did not even notice the grandam until he went). The gt both the ram and the grandam held about 1/2 car through 2nd. I then proceaded to miss third the ram pulled more, but I begain to pull the grandam back, halfway through third he was a car back and the ram was a car ahead. Then I missed 4th the grandam still kept falling way back and the ram did not pull anymore, but it did not help me at beating the damn ram. from 90+ I was pulling back fairly quick, but then we had to slow down due to traffic and the ram was about 1/2 car ahead.

2nd race-the ram turned right after winning but the grandam pulled up again. Same scenerio the grandam held its own well until around 75 and then it was no contest. So I wait and we go from a 2nd roll same thing 75 and the civic walks away. The funniest thing was at the next light he rolls down the window I am thinking to give me . So I roll down hotrods window and with a voice that sounded like his dog just died and he was trying to hold back the tears he says "your car sucks!!!, I wasn't even racing. I have a 6 cylinder yours is only a 4". we laughed at his feble attemt to make himself not look stupid (he had girls in the car). It was compleatly obvious that he was giving it all he had (I bet even the girls could tell that), it was impressive for a heavy 210hp auto, but in the end not enough.

3rd race (if you want to call it a race)-I see a SRT10 pull onto the road behind me and I can tell he is gaining on me quick so I drop it into 3rd at around 50 or 60 and floor it at this time he is about 8 cars back, by 80 I hear the roar of a v10 passing me like I am standing still. All that I can say is for a truck that thing is fast lol

4th race-S10 pickup, 5spd I am thinking a v6 that was moded he had a dual flow master exhuast and alot of stickers like a MSD, K&N, don't really know if he had any of that though, but it for sure did not sound like a 4cylinder . From a 40 roll I kept it is 3rd thinking that I would not need to downshift to win, well was I wrong LOL. He pulled until my rpms got high enough in third. As I shifted to 4th I was pulling back the 1 and1/2 cars that I had lost, but there was a car in my lane. So I had to slow down sort of QUICK LOL .

5th race-the same S10 40 roll again this time I droped into second. It was really close I only had about 1/2 car until about 65-70 and then I slowly begain to pull until 85-90 and I slowed down, he went flying by, but I was clearly wining.

cliff notes: can't beat hemi rams < 90mph with a friend in the car and missing 2 gears. grandam gts are not to bad, but after 75-80 they are pooches. SRT10s are a very fast truck. V6 s10s that are moded can put up a good race for a moded civic.

I am done......... I am going to autoX it or take it to some road courses. This street racing is very addicting and there are only a few scenerios
1. I wreck and die. MY gf finds a new guy (prob. with a s2000)
2.kill someone else and go to jail. While in jail getting rapped by buba, my gf is fvcking some new dude (with a s2000) and breaks up with me.
3. get my DL taken away, lose my good job, and my gf leaves me for a guy with a s2000.
4.My gf just plain breaks up with me because she is really sick of it

I think you get my point. Although there is a nice SF kit fs for 2600 LOL

about the kit?? It is not to bad,it was used by another member. From what I hear about SF is if you ever get the damn thing and it is the right fit they are not to bad

the sf kit is not all that bad if you got one of the first ones the tail end of production they sucked ***.

2,600 for a better kit then the tsi kit is worth it if you dont got the cash for dezoids


FYI i hate/love when people say your car sucks when they just lost horribly lol makes me laugh at there dumb butts.

yeah we got a good laugh out of it. I can see his gf holding on for dear life at 80mph as he is trying to keep up as I walk away. Then he turns to her and says "I did not even try that civic is slow", but then proceads to do it two more times. What a fvking tool

nah no life wuz threatend, sept OURS, when we were racing the s-10, through a long curve, going 80, and a durango wuz comin up FAST, so we past the durango in the turn lane, wiht oncoming traffic.....yeah that'll put hair on yur *****.

I was not to worried about the curve I have pushed my car alot harder, but if someone decided to turn into the turn lane damn that would have sucked. And to clarify I was not racing in the turn lane (I am not that stupid). I just could not slow down fast enough without risking pulling the weight off of the back tires and pulling the back end around. Sending us spinning out of control

on my way home from bgoetz's i came upto an intersection (corey and central bgoetz)....and a purple pt cruiser wuz there, with purple neon underbody, full graphics, lowered, rims, exhaust, some sort of nice hood, tinted, everything...the works. i pull up and the dude opesn the window and goes " DUDE LETS RACE AHAHHAHAHA"......i wuz like...omg these guys are stoned. but i just looked straight ahead. light turns green.......i have an AUTO....they peeled...i took off....i was a car lenght up after 1st...2nd i pulled more....3rd i......i...i had to turn lol. but yeah that wuz my own excitment

i don't think the hemi ram was trying to race, no offense. he was probably just going fast enough to make you keep trying. a 5spd auto magnum or 300c is low 14's with the hemi. 4-500lbs more on the truck, but still not gonna make it that slow.

s-10 with the 4.3L 6 cylinder is reasonably quick up til about 70 as you described. mid 15's stock. but you didn't race from a stop so that sounds about right.

grand am gt is more like 170-180hp, that car was clearly the weakest of the pack. but congrats on embarrassing him

Definitley.

Domestic, schoolteacher-like cars tend to have huge displacement and very bad HP numbers for its size.

For example, the 2005 crown victoria comes with a 4.6L V8... at a whopping 240 HP. The pontiac grand-am 3.4L V6 comes in at 175 HP.


Having an automatic transmission isn't going to help their cases at all, nor will their 3100 + curb weights.

No I am sure the hemi was trying to race. It is around a high 15 sec truck in stock form. If I did not miss any gears and/or if we went higher speeds 90+ I would have won. Which is about right considering the fact that I pulled one fairly easily on the highway from 80-100 a while back. My friend has the same truck (for a second I thought I was racing him) and from just messing around we knew it was going to be a close race. So I would say that a well driven (no missed gears) moded civic vs a hemi ram would be very close until around 80+ and then the civic should pull. Which would be indicative of both having close high 15 1/4mile times. The ram simply can't keep up at higher speeds due in part to its 5500lb curb weight (it was an extended cab)
