me vs celica and me vs..... celica?
I'm out getting mcdonald's today, and on the way home I pull up to a stoplight where there are like 5 cars in the left lane, and no one in the right lane. I dont' know why people do this, but I've noticed it's like people are afraid to actually use the 2nd lane. However, as I pull up to the light, I'm realizing maybe it's because people are afraid of the car sitting on the line in the left lane.
It's red. It has a celica GTS "action package" wing. (haha these commercials were so funny..... "looks fast"..... isn't fast. lol anyways) Now here's where the confusion comes in. I think the car is actually an integra. The entire rear end is an integra, and the headlights look integra. But there's toyota badges on the front and back, and a TRD sticker on the back window. Now I can understand someone who puts a Honda badge on an integra. But wtf is this guy doing. It's an integra, with toyota crap on it.
I can't see the driver, so I can't rip on him. Sorry guys.
I pay little attention, but the little f*cker starts to inch up, and his revs start gettin a little high as the light gets ready to change. not to be outdone, i wait for it (don't launch) and obliterate his happy little *** all the way back to the honda... er... toyota factory.
Later on I'm on my way to work, and run into a black celica GTS on the freeway. I'm in the left lane, going 75 in a 65, and he's on my ***. Alright no problem. I move over, let him pass, and what does he do? Gets in front of me in the right lane, then proceeds to slow to 70. Well wtf. So I move over, and start to go past him and the lil bastid starts pacing me, but ahead of me. He keeps matching my speed, which is kinda annoying but ok. I'm not sure if he wants to race, but I'm game if the opportunity strikes me.
However, without warning he just downshifts and goes, while i'm still half thinking race. Sounds like there's an intake, and he has an exhaust. But whatever. I quickly downshift to 3rd at 80mph and go. His initial "head start" got him 2 lengths on me, but by the time i was shifting to 4th I'd pretty much made it up. Through 4th I pass him steadily, and shut down at 110 with a couple cars on him. He never passes me again and eventually I get off the freeway and byebye.

I dunno about you beating that celica on the freeway, I used to have a GTS myself, and I owned Civic's all the time wit it, and it was auto too. Those things pull from like 4k-7.5k...its nuts. But hey, maybe his car was broke. good kill.

How can you think for a second that the GTS would have anything over his S2000?!?!? BTW, when you see a bone stock GTS do 14 flat in the 1/4 let me know.

I'd love to see a video of an s2k comin from 2 cars bak to bein up by 2 cars going from 80 - 110 mph. that's a pretty large difference. I'm not saying you couldn't beat a celica. I'm saying theres NO WAY you woulda done it by that much in that short of time.
the s2k just isnt that fast.
only way your story would make sense is if he missed a gear OR it was an auto or if you're embellishing the story a bit

Rep Power: 400 well he started roughly 2 cars ahead of me. maybe 1.5 cars. by the time i finished he was past my blind spot in my side view. probably about 2 cars behind. so we'll call that 3 cars total or so that i pulled on him start to finish.. not like i had a ruler to measure.... you know and i know it's an inexact science my friend.
from a roll, from 80-110mph, an S2k yes, will put 3-ish cars on a GTS. the GTS may have some nice top end.... but starting at 80mph is a big mistake on the GTS part. that's the top of 3rd for the S2k and our 4th gear is just as strong. remember we are talking a 13.7@102 car here vs what... 14.8@94? that's a pretty good gap, and pretty big difference in trap speeds. 3 to 3.5 cars is about what i'd expect from a 80-110 jaunt.
if you really want to get technical, we can do the math. factor in weight, gearing, tire circumference, and lb/ft at 80mph in the appropriate gear for both cars. and you'll see the S2k would pull quite nicely. both from a math standpoint, and plenty of personal experience.
