Sleeper ford ranger!!!
I was driving home last night and this old POS early 80s late 90s ford ranger comes flying by me. The guy driving it works at a tuning shop and had alot of turbo stickers, shop stickers ect.. The thought did cross my mind that it may not be stock, but then we both caught the next light and all I was thinking about was a good race. The light turned green and we both got a good launch as I shifted into 2nd I heard his bov. Shitt
he was boosted!!!! At this point we were still bumper to bumper as I neared the high end of 2nd I looked over to see that I was slowly starting to pull. In the second that I looked over I lost my concentration on the race
. I went to shift into third and waaaaa!!!!, nothing but the sound of a free engine and grinding gears; I let the clutch out too soon and missed third
. By the time I got it in gear I he had pulled to a car and I could not catch back up before he called it. And just like that I lost to a rustbucket..... And did I mention that he had his gf in the car (she was not small either)

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha! feel so sorry for you man...
change your MT fluid once every 3 months... or 6months at the latest... and when you shift gear... turn your palm up, place the shift bar between your index finger and your middle finger so the only pressure that applies is the one going forward... it will bother you for awhile but, you will get used to it...
since I started shifting like that i never had a missed gear... specially if I wear gloves... it does work better than the convetional, palm down holding shift ****, and i missed the **** and or gear so many times coz either the **** is wet or to slippery with gloves on... and or putting to much pressure that the gear missed... just my .05

Ahhh... owned by the dreaded 2-3 gear misshift. Sadly, I know that feeling all to well. I wouldn't feel too bad about the truck, though--once they get rolling, most trucks have so much power that they can overtake normal Civics. Sometimes I miss mashing on the gas and hearing the Vortec 4.3L in my old S-10 roar to life.

yeah, most trucks have some good power. I raced my friend in his S10 and he whooped me. But I had a FULL car of people, and he only had himself, and we were downhill. I was also new to driving stick. But most trucks have some pretty decent power, just heavier cars.
That 2.3l motor (which is probably what it was) comes with forged crank, rods and pistons running a T4 (I think that's what the factory put on it). With a little motor prep, they can put out 400+ rwhp. It's the motor that made the '84-'86 SVO a great road racing car, lots of power and light weight. We're building one now to run at Infineon and Thunderhill.
