WRX vs buddies modded S2K

I haven't posted here in quite a while since owning my REX. I just wanted to get some input from the S2K king. hah. Ok here goes.

So me and a couple of my buddies were out cruising the other night. Me WRX, Clayton S2K (Invidia exhaust, Injen CAI, VTEC controller, springs, carbon fiber hood), Brian 350Z track edition (Injen intake and test pipes), Anthony with well modded 98 M3. Anyway, we all get on the highway in this order, M3, S2k, WRX, 350Z. M3 takes off and disappears and everyone follows suit. The S2k takes off in second at about 30mph and I follow. We enter the highway at about 60mph and I'm right on his bumper. I had my buddy Lee in the car with me and Clayton was alone in his S2k with the top down. I continue to stay right on his bumper and I say to Lee, "watch as soon as we hit 100mph he'll start to pull away from me." Well, he didn't. At about 110mph I start to pass him and it shocked the hell out of me. I pass him at 115mph and continue to pull and we shut down at 120mph. I'm thinking there was no way he was going all out.

So we pull off the highway to chat about the "race". Turns out he was as shocked as I was. He said that he was going all out and full throttle. I was thinking that maybe it was the driver but this kid knows how to drive. I don't know what happened. Maybe I have one of those few factory flooks that might have more power than listed. Oh well. Either way it was a damn good race that surprised all of us. Sk2man chime in please. Cheers

MangoEX should not be trusted
its not about whats faster or can inch away in a race, its about what you enjoy driving. and what fits your personality. personally i like the wrx cause it feels like a tank (steering, acceleration, braking, SOUND is all manly), yet handles so nimble and feels quick to respond

I don't think that having the top down would create that much drag. It would create some but not enough to make that much of a difference at that speed. The windshield would direct the majority of the drag up and over the car.

ya the top down really does play a difference. i raced my friends wrx from a 50 roll on and at 100 he couldnt keep up. were both stock. i also raced a srt4 and that sucker pulled on me from a 50 roll on but at 85 i started to pull on him. u guys should do a rematch! or maybe u do have a fluke

Bone stock. If you reread my first post, I listed everyones mods. The only things I've done are, removed spare tire in trunk and took out the intake silencer (allows turbo to spool a little quicker)

His M3 is just too fast. ha ha. It would have been a really close race with him and my other buddy with the modded 350Z. When I was on my 04 Gixxer 600 I was next to my buddy in the M3. We just took off for fun. I was in 2nd in low rpm's and I believe he was in first at mid rpm's. He stuck with me until about 70 or so mph. His car is no joke. I don't really know what he has done to it but I do know that it runs high 12's low 13's. Also has some figerglass/carbon fiber imported body kit. Very expensive. I'll see if I can get some pics of it and email them to you. What's your email?
