Vr6 or Gti 1.8t...
Vr6 or Gti 1.8t...
Ok just few ?'s....
My friends been debating to get GTI 1.8, VR6 or base RSX, or WRX...he doesnt really want WRX although its quickest stock its kinda pricy he thinks for WRX...and the base RSX is to slow for him, yeah everyone says Type S but hed rather just get WRX in that case if he spent 24K or so...anyways....Ive been searching but cant find...I know Vr6 is quicker, but how much quicker? In 1/4 I mean...I believe VR6 if Im correct runs like Type S times, about high 14's and 1.8T runs about low 15's but my friends keep tellin him to get the 1.8, its so much cheaper and easier to tune, just slap on a larger turbo some fuel mang. and a chip and he can easily hit 13's for not that much money invested...hes afraid of blowin motor if he gets turbo and boost more etc...but from my knowledge those 1.8's are good for 400hp on the block kinda like the SR20's I mean im not suggestin to go and boost 20+lbs stock but...if ya raised the boost a little shouldnt hurt...does anyone have any idea what kinda times these cars run? thanx

wrx first of coarse but if he is not into that just get the 1.8T.. tuner friendly and cheaper to tune then the vr6.. however VW are bitches when it comes to warrenty work
I like the VW's but I just hate the stick shift area, looks gay lol some big *** bulky shifter, I know ya can change it but eh still looks funky Turbo Perf. in van nuys told him for about 1500 they can swap new turbo, fuel mang. and ecu chipped and have him guarant runnin 13's easy safely also, so now hes thinkin bout it ill keep ya posted hes gonna get car this week sometime

no, the VR6 doesn't have a turbo
haha i didnt mean it like that I think I phrased it wrong, what I mean was in a ? form...Now would the Exhaust sound of the VR6, be better than the turbo sound of a 1.8t is what I meant....thanx doe
Damn thats sa-weeetttttt but 1.8 and vr6's look same anyways so I guess if he got a 1.8t he could make it look exactly as that, but damn thats sweet only thing i dont like on outside of VW's are well now that I look at it, doesnt look all that bad, i jus always saw VWs as a girly car since the new bugs came out

honestly if he wants a cheap to mod fast car, get the 1.8T. install a couple cheap mods, and those GTi's can be fast CHEAP. 13's with maybe only a couple hundred worth of mods.
If he plans on modding, get the 1.8t hands down. A chip and exhaust with a good driver will put you in the 13's. Stock the 1.8t can run high 14's around 93-94mph. My bro-inlaw has a modded VR and it's nice but they dont responed to bolt-ons like the 1.8t.
****, I know someone with a stock VR6 with a 120 shot and he has been beating 12 second cars at the saturday night street races...plus I know someone who works as a VW mechanic at the local VW dealership here and all I ever hear him say is how bad of a POS the 1.8T is and how unreliable it is. He says he works on the 1.8T's more than any other VW. I'd go with a VR6 for sure!

Nither handles all that well (not bad but not nearly as good as they could), to primitive of a suspension. But of the two, the 1.8T is the better balanced, the VR6 is way too nose heavy.

Go for the WRX for sure!!! the enterior and trim might be all shitty but it is a hell of alot more reliable than the VW!!! Also you get mad power from basic mods! You can't go wrong with a 4wd turboed 4!!!!

Thats true, I agree, however, isnt it more expensive to modify the WRX?
ITs more expensive to get anything out of the 1.8t. Chip it and you can hit a 13.7 at best from what ive seen on the stock turbo, then turbo upgrades get expensive.
wrx can hit a 13.7 much easier and maybe more before you have to worry about tranny problems.. base rsx? cant you swap an a2 head on there and hondata it?
