sentra vspec and srt-4

alright fellas and ladies

so im at a local meet last night just talking with my friend Joe.
when the subject of the srt-4 pops up! o god!!!

anywho this kid who had arrived like 5minutes before in a nissan sentra se r vspec; decides that he must immediatly chime in!!!

anywho we get to a point in the conversation where i say
"for its price the srt-4 is worth it IMO" (i happen to like the srt-4)

then the kid starts blabbing away about how the srt-4 sucks and has problems. basically sounded like he got all his information off a forum where the majority of the people hate the srt-4 (which now that i think about it is probably every compact car forum).

anywho i pointed at the se-r and asked him if it was his and what mods he had done to it.
his reply "pretty much every bolt on!!!! im running low 14's! almost 13's!"

hmmm....well it turns out he hasnt even ran it at the track yet so he really doesnt know what the hell his 1/4 is. he claims to be n/a but also claims to beat srt-4's.

im not hating on the se-r cuz my friend used to have one and they are pretty sweet cars. however im finding it hard to beleive that this kids se-r is beating srt-4's on a regular basis.

ive done research about the srt-4's so i know about them but, my knowledge on the se-r is a almost non existant. what do you guys think?

he's full of crap is the way it sounds.

i love when someone says "i run almost 13's" and they have never been to the track. :/ He probably runs high 14's in his spec v at best, and I doubt he has "every" bolt on mod too

every bolt on in an ser is barely gonna hit mid 14's on average low 14's if you're lucky.

also most noobs would run 15's high 14 best.

I'd be willing to bet he's never run an srt-4 before.

hmm...thats what i thought. thanks for the responses guys!!!
i agree the se-r is pretty quick, but is also not the lightest.

i even told the kid that next time he's gonna run an srt-4 to let me know. if he wins ill give him all the credibility but, until then i will remain skeptical.

i also just got off the phone with my friend mike who used to own an se-r and he told me with a 50 shot of N2O he ran mid to low 14's depending on the conditions; . hmmm....this kids story gets more and more unbelievable.

I got a friend who's got an SE-R. They're pretty nice but from what he tells me, they dont have as much torque in 1st gear as they should.

But man, riding with him, he takes the first few gears to the red line and when it hits 6k rpm, the engine goes from Piece of Metal to BEAST. He doesnt even have exaust, just intake, but it sounds so awesome.

For a compact car, the SE-R isnt bad, however compared to the likes of SRT-4, it's slow

i might know the answer to this banter

it just so happens my friend nick has a spec-v and my friend justin has a srt-4. well one thing led to another one night chilling at my house and those two got into it about whos car was faster so after about a half hour of arguing we hit a local spot to prove who was faster becuse i was tired of hearing them argue. when it was all said and done justins srt4 blew nicks spec-v off the line and there was no cathing up. just thought i would through that at u guys and see what u thought.

Thats believeable. The se-r is a nice car. But it will not beat a turbo neon that runs mid/low 13's stock. I've got two friends that have se-r spec-v's. One is stock and runs 15.2's all day long, and the other has i/e 50/60/75 shot n2o. Best he has done was high mid 14's. So highly modded se-r's will need to race a srt-4 to stay with or beat them.

Side note: Dont push your se-r too hard with a 75 shot of n2o friend of mine blew the motor.

Specs are not slow than an MSP if u think about it whts the msp run like 15.1-15.2 and the spec runs 15.2 they look pretty much equal there ive raced an msp and stayed even with it so there

the spec is a sweet car i seriously thought about getting one. then they changed the whole car and made it uglier, hopefully it gets redisigned.

you also need to realize that the spec v is right around the same, maybe a lil more than an ex civic. so your comparing the the same priced cars stock vs. an aftermarket turbo (in which you spent alot of money on). Pour that same money into the spec and see who wins.

My friend raced a turbo Spec V with his SRT-4, Spec-V driver a decient driver, My friend with the SRT-4, great driver. He lost to the car by almost a whole car length. He also my I add took the Spec V off the line, by second the Spec-V was beginning to walk by little by little.

Honestly, Those Spec-V's are quick cars. My girl has one and I love running it. It pulles great. But if you were to race a Spec-V with tones of Bolt on's against a stock SRT-4, I still think the SRT-4 has that race. They are so much more lighter and have more power out of factory to be comparing the two. Spec-V vs. RSX-S = good race, maybe even a drivers race. Spec-V vs. SRT-4 = Turbo will win (SRT-4).
