This past summer, we went to the drag races out in Luskville, Quebec, and my friends convinced me to make an *** outa myself and my civic and to go and race...
I pulled a 15.914 @ 79.837
I have an intake, catback and perf. muffler which was all really just put on for show.
I have a HEAVY sound system in the back and with approx calcs, my car weighs at about 3065 lbs!
I have a manual tranny.
My question is in two parts:
1) Is this a good 1/4 mile for my car or regular civics in general with manual tranny?
2) Can I improve this time if I removed my excess of 100 lbs (maybe 150 lbs) worth of equipment in the trunk?

Been covered.... well sorta . It covered Rotational weight, but there was one instance that would apply to your question...
Baseline: heavy wheels 2000-pound car
average E.T.:14.7303 sec
average speed:88.98 mph
Heavy wheels 1940 pound car
Average E.T: 14.6307
Average speed: 89.65 mph
Improvents over baseline: 0.996 sec., .67 mph, 13.1 feet.
so for a loss of 60LBS they droped .0996 seconds.
and gained .67 MPH

why not subtract the time? that's how long it took me to start moving right?
maybe ease up on the sarcasm to bud cause i obviously don't know what i'm talking about yet and i just need to be corrected.

R/T does not effect ET...ET is calculated after crossing the line.

at first i was amazed by your time, untill i read that you subtracted. But 1.3 seconds!? Wow man you gotta get out there and work on that reaction. Either way, it is cool that you are out trying your skill.
R/T = reaction time ( measures how long it takes for you to go once you see the light)
Best way to get a good R/T is to go on the 3rd yellow light. if you see green you're already too late.
also remember it does not affect your ET.
ET - Elapsed Time ( this is how long it takes to get from start to finish)
60' marker- This measures your launch. with a 5 spd and FWD car ou should be in the 2.2's anything higher is not good.
330' marker - this typically measures how well you shift from 1st to 2nd gear.
1/8 - this is the half way point
mph - this is your speed at the 1/8 marker
1000' - measures your 2-3 shift ( in celicas anyways)
1/4 - this is your 1/4 mile time
mph - this is how fast you were going at the 1/4 marker.
colder days or using ICE will inflate your mph
=============================================
Also chirping you rtires on shifts costs you about .1 each time you do it so try to avoid it!

I think a 5 spd LX could do better than low 17's.
I would say mid to high 16's

xX03EXx, not much of a skill since it was my first and only time. (so far!! - it was fun
)
00celicagts6spd, very informative dude, thanks for the feedback.
I'd posted this in another post, but do you guys think that a heavy system in the back can slow me down just a bit?

I only ever ran the 1/4 mile once. My best time was in the high 16's with decent tires and cold air intake.
Really learned to respect the sport. I figured light tuns green, hit gas and go. Boy was I way off. bogging or spinning at the line, chirping goin into second, reaction time like ive got rigormortis.
Im looking forward to goin back at it this summer. Its not about if you can beat the other guy, its about your personal best time. Well thats what I say when you own a 2001 civic!

on my crx, i have gotten a 2.0 60 ft time, 13.5 with i/h/e@106 mph, b18b ls swapped crx weighing 2000 lbs. yes its the crower 62403 cams .422 lift on the intake and exhaust and the duration is 250 degrees, something something, it says it on the cam sheet. its like i am in gsr vtec all the time, rough idle is what i can say. in cali i wont pass emissions but in fl there is no emissions testing. bwahahaha thats on street tires, i hear a 1.7 60 ft time on slicks. but not yet done. good luck to you all racers, keep it straight
