BS Mustang

I wish I wrote down the license number or something, I know it was a green wanna be gt mustang. He had the emblems for 4.6 ltr v8, mustang gt and other ****. Yet my civic with just a cai and cat back and my friends STOCK cavalier gave him a run for his money. I stopped the run at 98 mph and his ford crust stain was still a significant distance behind us both. So to you with the pos stag, Ha I raise the bs flag! :zbsflag:

Haha thats funny, cept even a v6 stang wouldnt be that far behind your car with just cai, and would beat a cavalier by a signifecant margin

What a dipshit.....

We took the "GT" badging OFF our '94 GT and slapped on some of those V6 ponies. I'd say we did it to fool people and race, but we could never pull it off because my fiancee dropped in this huge-assed Cam with the new motor.... You'd hear her idling from 6 blocks away. LOL Oh well.

First, a new v6 mustang wouldn't be behind him AT ALL (close maybe w/ auto, but if the stang is manual... both are owned), but a 98 or older V6 would probably lose to BOTH and I assume thats what this was because there is no 4.6L badge on the 99+ V8s, just a "GT" badge. The 96-98 GT's said GT/4.6L. Also, no stock 7th gen is faster than a Late-model Z24 Cavy manual (the most recent one to receive the 2.4 and not the now standard-across-the-board Ecotec 2.2L), except maybe the EPhatch. So, because we don't know which Cavy it is, we can't assume the Civic is faster.

I was thinkin.... The SN95 and the newer ('99-03) all have the same exact 3.8 liter, right. So what's the difference? The 5.0 vs 1st gen 4.6 matters greatly. Then in '99 they got a little more boost on the lower end.

Anyway, I agree that in 0-60 or 0-80 the Civic would have seen nothin but tailenses of the pony.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but I assume this will answer your question and clarify my post.

94-98 V6: 145-150hp/215tq = Lose to both unless Manual coupe
99+ V6: 190-193hp/225tq = Beat both unless Z24 Cavy or Auto Vert Stang

It's funny how people think bigger engine size always means a win. Well, the 1982 Mustangs had a 4.2L V8 that put out a whopping 111hp.

I'm not making any remarks on whether or not his particular story was true, but people should do their research first.

Oh, yeah. You're correct. I forgot that Ford bumped up the compression and put in some decent heads for the V6 in '99.

I was referring to the fact that the 4.6 V8's from 1996-1998 were crappy setups.

95impalass: The 4cyl was stopped in 1993 with the end of the Fox-body Mustang. Yes, those 4-bangers were some of the slowest cars ever made.

94-98 V6 Mustangs with auto tranny run 17s flat. Pathetic...I know, I had one.

The same car in 5spd is capable of anything from 16.5 to 16.8 on average. What does a stock 7th gen EX run?

Also, I call total bullshit on the Cavalier, unless you mean the older 6 cylinders. The newer eggs are just plain pieces of utter ****.

Often several tenths worse than that, even.

2001 Chevy Cavalier Z24
2.4 liters
Horsepower: 150 hp
Torque: 155 ft-lbs
Curb Weight: 2617

That is a recipe for 15's whether its a piece of crap or not.

Well my V6 was my second car (first being a slow *** 4cyl Probe) so I actually thought it was a 15 second car or so lease: Yeah I'm stupid.

It actually feels like it pulled reasonably strong during everyday driving, so when a bunch of friends went to the track, I figured what the hell? After repeated flogging, the best was 17.02...

Are you SURE about a Cavalier being able to pull off 15s?? I would think more like 16s. It has the same hp as the stupid V6, but 60 less ft/lbs of torque...although it is 600 lbs lighter...hmm. Believe it or not, that is a race I would like to see (on a track, so there isn't the usual street race shittalking & excuses).

Actually My friends cavalier is surprisingly fast, the car just doesnt have any top end. I'm spending a crap load of money just to stay neck and neck with his car, but come 85+ mph he starts to fall back.

cavs are usually around high 15's with I/E out here. 5 spd v6 stangs are in the 16's usually here. with good drivers they hit high 15's also.

Well, I just pulled a 15.5 with a crappy 2.331 60ft. and my car, though modded, isn't probably any faster than stock thanks to the added weight of the rims and subframe connectors. All the mods I have are K&N Filter, Aluminum DS, and Exhaust.

Edit.... I have a 2000 5-speed V6

A 2000 V6 is a different breed of pony from pre 99...180 hp (that responds very well to mods) is MUCH different than the shoddy, restrictive 150hp predecessor. A 5spd V6 can pull ahead of an auto 96-98 GT easily.

I beat a '96 V6 stang auto (it had 18 inch wheels on it though and a system in it)...also I was riding with him one day and he raced a D16 civic kitted with 17's with I/E and we GOT OUR A$$ WHOOPED till we caught him at about 65+mph...and the guy in the D16 said his trans was slippin...it was a 5spd...those '98 and older V6 stangs are slow...but I lost to a V6 2000 5spd Stang...they are a BIG difference from the older ones...from the jump the '98 and older V6 stangs suck badd...just my $0.02.

Yeah, well, it was my first time to the track and for several reasons (40 profile tires, open diff, bad track prep, 40 deg temps) I couldn't hook very well, but it does show that the car is good for LOW 15's with a good launch, should that ever happen. BTW, 99+ V6's have 190-193hp, and you are all correct, the pre-99s are a totally different animal and are definately slow.

40 degree temps is awesome racing weather. best I've had is high 50's 1 time. lol bu tyeha I'd defenitely say low 15's even high 14 is possible. with RWD your 60' really should be 2.1's on street tires and loow 2.0's high 1's on drag radials.

How does the V6 Mustang match up against the V6 Camaros and Firebirds? I can beat both V6 F-bodys modded.

if both v6 mustang and camaro are manuel its more of a drivers race but if equal drivers camaro should be able to get win....auto for auto camaro, camaro's have better auto trans....this with for the newer stangs and camaro's...like the older mustangs the older camaro's arent too fast, they have like 160 HP i believe

I have beaten M/T V6 Camaros with Flows and stock V6 Stangs a number of times. But I just recently lost to a V6 Camaro with MSD, K & N, Headers, and a exhaust system. He caught me at the end and got me by 2/10th of a second

When talking Mustangs/Camaros, those are not real mods. They are Pep Boys add-ons that really do nothing for the performance of the car (the exhaust might be worth 6 hp at most).

When you're talking new heads, bigger cams, 3.73/4.10 gears, advanced timing, forced induction, etc.... THOSE are domestic mods.

The only reason I say this is because it's easy to do these things to a 3.8, 5.0, 5.7, etc.... With imports, you really can't mess around as much without intimate knowledge.
