anyways, back to the point of the video. It was to show you, that what I was talking about isn't "excessive spinning" it's how I know everyone launches at the track, atleast who I know.
but explain this e-brake theory for me. I might try this for better 1/4 times.

So wait, what IS the best way?
I don't think we have answered the question. At least I haven't found it.
I just let the clutch in a bit, raise it up to it's sweet spot and feather it smoothly while giving it gas, maybe around 3k rpm. I have yet to try it at a track though.

For autocross..... when I was on my street tires (Falken 512, 205/40-17) I could not launch with higher then 32-3500 RPM with out spinning the tires. with my race tires (205/50-15 Falken Azenis) I launch at about 4-4500 RMP with little to no wheel spin.... Good rubber is the key.
The best way to launch your car (assuming its a 5 speed) is practice with the clutch and the gas. Try leveling out the clutch and gas to the rev you want (usually I only rev up to about 2700 more than that will usually cause excessively peeling), then when you launch, simultaneously let go of the clutch and push of the gas pedal (dont floor!). You have to be really good at this otherwise your car wont be stay still.

using the e-brake isnt hard. when you roll up to the line and stage pull up the ebrake a couple clicks. hold your rpms steady. when the 2nd yellow lights goes drop the e-brake and launch. by the time you do you'll be in the .5 r/t range. (.0XX on a zero light) it's easier and more reliable then trying to heel toe your launch. IHMO.

After launching my friends GSX a few times (same engine as you bro! 4G63) here's what I learned...
Instead of keeping a constant rpm, fluctuate it by flooring it and letting off. This way you can get your turbo spooling. Launch at about 5.5k rpms. Don't sidestep or you'll bog. Let off the clutch aggressively but don't lock it up right away, as soon as you see you rpms dip down to about 5k as your accelerating, make sure you're completely pff the clutch. Keep the gas mashed down for the rest of the way, lettin off only to shift. I was chirping all 4 tires on my friends GSX before he changed his clutch.
Messing around with my friends evo that I work on, it's very easy to launch those things if you rev high enough. Just remember to keep the turbo spooled to help prevent bogging,
Mod I reccommend, MSD ingition system. They come with a 2 stage rev limiter. When the clutch is in, stage 1, such as let's say, 4500rpms. Keep it floored with the clutch in and you'll never pass 4500. The best part is, at 4500, your car will be making about 15-16psi of boost. As soon as the light turns green, quickly let off the clutch, keeping it floored the whole time. There's your perfect lauch. Expect nearly identical 0-60' times from that point on...

when i made the thread i still had the vic....lol
right now i lauch at 4.5k, exactly wat u said keepin my foot on the gas while lettin the clutch go...hard to get it right everytime(lost sum $$ cause this stupid thing) but ill get it right. oh yea and i ordered those stuff should be here next week, also on top of that i got a boost, EGT and fuel gauge...
I have intake CAI and exhaust. using 16" w/ 205/45/16 paradas stiff sprngs w/ 2.25 drop on front. I average aournd .470(broke-out level) to .580 reaction. I try not to feather the clutch to prevent burning it from doing it alot-as i've heard, dunno if its a fact. I mostly drop at around 2.6K to 2.8K. w/ the way i do it, i get a jump, but not all the time. For me usually the hight the wheel diameter the higher the rev. Wow, people use hand brakes on the staging line for launch!?

example..
www.californiaspeedway.com - look for my track vids from here sunday
- no roll www.irwindaledragstrip.com - gonna post my vid of 9.225 @78.38 mph from thursday on sunday also - you will roll enough to redlight if you don't brake.
also a track doesnt have to be ghetto for you to roll. Irwindale happens to have a 5 ft downslope.
