My new car
I just drove home a brand new 2003 Ford Mustang GT. Leather seats, Mach 460 sound system, V8, 17" upgraded alloy wheels, retails 28k. I sqeezed the dealer down to 21k (including the buyout- I leased the car 289/month 36months 1k down)
Its a 5-spd. I looked into the RSX type-s, but they just couldnt meet the mustang price, what can I say. I'm happy with it, its beautiful car, handles well, amazing pick up (compared to a 'vic), and a very nice interior. Its that new blue color, sonic blue. It even has two accessory outlets, one for my radar one for my cell. woot.Don't hate me just cause I drive a domestic

Why does everyone have to dis their civic? It is a nice car, I like the new mustang and this Ford has redeemed themselves for the car but I was able to get pretty much any car $25K or less and I chose the civic. Doesn't anyone else appreciate the challenge to make the civic an 11 sec car??????/

i THINK. dunno, 11 seconds seemed crazy. maybe you were being sarcastic (?)
Well, I USED to love Fords and didnt know why everyone knocked on them. But, that was only while our cars were new. We have a 98 Mustang and a 98 Explorer E.B. V8. VERY nice cars when new, but once you hit above 50,000 miles FORGET IT. The mustang is always having problems and in the shop and the Explorer is the same way. The Mustang usually has the bigger problems but the Explorer has the more frequent little, annoying problems.
Good Luck on your Mustang though!!! I have friends with Mustangs that dont have problems so I hope the best of luck to you.

AWESOME CAR! Good job on getting it down to 21K, too. I wouldn't ever lease a car, but if that's what works for you, okay then. And I can't believe the Acura dealer wouldn't knock a bit off to get you into an RSX instead of a Stang.
A serious question though... is the interior really that nice? Most of my friends are domestic car guys, but they like Pontiac, Chevy, etc... the only Mustang interiors I've seen in person have been auto and they sucked. They had a lot of plastic that felt like it wouldn't stand up to even one hit. Granted, the Civic interior is no Bentley, but at least a lot of it is wrapped in vinyl or something which makes it look more finished in my opinion.
Oh well... in 2005-2006, I may join you in the Mustang drivers' club.
As for you "H4L Honda 4 Life" guys with blind faith in Honda, grow up.

I never bashed the civic, its a GREAT car. I mean hell after insurance gave me the money for my accident, it only cost me 900 bucks to have the civic for 9 months and put 14k miles on it. I just wanted a new, hotter looking, faster car.
As to the RSX type-s, if I wasnt in college I would have gotten it, its more practical. But the acura dealer would not drop below 26k (in a lease). And I test drove both cars, and sat in them, and anyone who says a type-s can out run a mustang, needs to open their eyes. Granted, in a road with a lot of bends and such, the rsx would hold its own, but wiht traction control and its great handling, the mustang wont be out of the race by any means.
I wanted a lease because in 3-4 years my needs for a car are going to change, and I might want/need to get a different car. In that situation, and with the deal, I felt a lease was my best option. And if the mustang is acting up 3 years from now, ford can have it back, I wont have lost anything.
On a final note I jsut spent all day cruising around in my new car in one and off rain. The rain kept me under control ,but I didnt have any trouble handling wise and I did push the car. And its definitely more fun to drive. I'm still not the best at a manual though- need some work.

I didn't mean about the interior holding up in a crash, I meant that the Mustang interiors I had seen at the StL Int'l Car Show felt like I could punch them with not much force and the whole thing would fall apart. I think GM has the worst problems with interiors. They feel like the cheapest thing ever. My friend drives a GTP which costs like 30K, but the interior is something you'd expect from a sub-15K car, like a Honda or Hyundai. But my Honda interior feels/looks 10x nicer.
I've gotta say, the Mustang is a very well designed car. I didn't like the new body style when it came out, but now I like it a lot more than the 94-99 models. My biggest complaint is a style thing... where the roof comes down to meet the rear quarter panel, it's two pieces instead of one. I don't like that. But, if that's my biggest complaint, no problem.

You know what? I think that people still knock their civic too much! I did say an 11 sec car and guess what- there are some around- how about the guy with the water to air set up from Canada? I DO have the $ to do whatever I want to on my Civic, I am not a college kid and I have a job that pays me well. My car is just 1 year old and I think that I have done pretty well with my mods and acquiring HP (see my profile if interested)
I am a loyal Honda person and I think that anything is possible w/ these cars and not the easy NOS bottle way!
