swap or turbo?
I dunno if I can post this in this forum... but oh well...
I was thinking of either swapping my engine for an ITR engine or perhaps waiting for a turbo for the 01+ EXs... I don't know of any turbos available for my car... What do you think is better worth the money?

im where you are but now i know what i am doing, i am going to just turbo my civic and then pour my money into a different car soon. I plan on buying 1995-1998 Nissan 240sx and dropping a rb25det into it. I already have my 240sx project list and its very very well thought out, after all my mods on my list I will be looking at push over 400 hp and torque =] rb25det engines are easy to push power out of and the rb25det front clip is only $3250 which comes with the subframe and motor mounts to install into the 240sx all you need then is someone to help you wire it up =] phewwwwww thats my future plans
it also depends on how much power u r looking for, and how much money, i prefer to do the swap and keep adding on which will be a lot of money but if your on some type of budget go with a turbo it would be a little cheaper anyway

revhard's kit is out, and you could also custom build your turbo setup. that would be your best route, so you could figure out how much hp you want and configure your turbo to that exact specifications, but that would end up costin you around 4g's for setup and install
I sure wish my car was newer

I'm personally thinking about saving for a custom turbo. I can't justify spending as much as a project car would cost to have a car that still isn't all that quick relative to other cars for that kind of money. If a total of $28,000 is what I have to spend to get 220hp in this car (18,000 for car, $10,000 for swap) then you can count me out. I'll buy an old mustang or something that has that much stock. That's just my opinion though.

Swaps are expensive... But if I could do the work myself that would be cheaper. I can find a itr, si, or civic type-r engine with tranny and axles and the brain for $3,000-$3500 depending on the engine. But the smog issue could be a problem for visual emissions. California is pretty strict! No JDM engines allowed! I could go with a US engine. I think just putting a turbo on is the best route. I'll save the big money modifications for my next car (either a 1970 Chevelle or a 1967 GTO). I wish I would have been able to get an Si from the beginning but in my situation I had to take what I could get, being so upside down in negative equity on my broken 2000 Mustang GT.
