I've been looking for a 99-00 Si for a few months now cuz I wanna trade in my '02 EX for one. And I found one now at a dealership, it's a 2000 Black Si for about $11,500... That's sounds all good and fun, except the guy said the car had been stolen and recovered. He said the only things jacked were the speedometer(so the miles are unknown) and the rims(obviously with the tires, too), but they've been replaced. I haven't seen it in person, so I wanted to get y'alls opinion first.
Do you think it'd be worth it? Or should I just keep on searching and waiting for another opportunity...

I wouldn't buy it, look for a new one... cause you'll be spending a great deal of time and energy on it and you don't want to go through a phase of "HELP!!!!" how to fix, how much, and where's the lowest price to do so... etc.
Agreed. Best to hold off for another one - it's quite a popular car so I doubt you'll have trouble finding one that you actually KNOW what the miles are on it.
On the other hand, you could get a mechanic to take a look at it and see what they say. Or try to use it to get the guy to lower his price.
In either case, good luck man.

Can't they get the miles on the car from the ECU, cause I thought it recorded that information. Even if this was the case I'd still wait and find the perfect deal. Since you don't need a car at the moment, you can shop around and save money as well as get a great car. I suggest www.carbuyingtips.com for some good info.

Ok thanks guys. Yeah, the guy supposedly said he could get the mileage from Carfax, but I'm still not sure. I'm still going to check it out and maybe get the price lowered, along with a mechanic to check it out.

I think you should bring a mechanic if you can to the place and check it out and also check the vehicle through that website where you can find what had happen to the car. Someone help me out on the websites name imo

OK, well I went to check out the car and this is what I found out: The car had been "supposedly" stolen from a dealership.. The rims, the ECU, and the intake had been stolen. But the guy has replaced them. Who knows what ECU he's got in it, but it's got some Acura rims on it. And I highly doubt he's gonna find the real mileage for it. BUT I did test drive, and this being my first 99-00 Si to drive, the car drove AMAZINGLY.. Now I know about the 'feeling' of VTEC and it was kinda sad getting into my SOHC civic...
