New Shifter/AT Shift Boot Conversion Done!
hehe, I hate the look of the OEM AT shifter, so like so many others, I changed it.

A couple notes on the install.
1. I kept the little silver collar that comes with the shift boot. update I reinstalled the silver collar right side up, I didn't like the little gaps in the middle of the collar.
2. Since the whole shift **** moves up and down, I had to put a spring on the shift lever to keep the shift boot pushed against the bottom of the shifter. Otherwise, it would slide down and show the unsightly shift lever.
3. The shifter would bump against a piece of plastic on the inside of the shift boot. Nothing a little Dremel tool, drum sander, and cardboard shield would fix.
eh, here's Hotek's DIY for a 2k2. It's pretty much the same thing up to the part where you put the shifter on, which is detailed above.

Did you also have a problem with the shifter coming very close to the plastic piece inside the front of the shift boot?

haha, if you had gotten a pic of me when I worked on this, you would have thought I was a homeless bum off the street or something. It was the first thing I worked on after waking up.
