is the sound better with a full catback system, or custom piping? say you got an apex n1 muffler with custom piping, would it sound better than the full n1 cat back system?
The sound should be the same with a full cat-back system...or with a custom cat-back with the same muffler. The Apexi N-1 cat-back is not available yet, but sovereign82 has a custom cat-back with the N1 muffler. It'll probably sound exactly the same. Afterall, pipe is pipe...so long as it's the same size.
I have the APEX N1 GT Jspec full custom cat-back for my LX coupe and will trade it for a stock midpipe and $200. LX only Pm me or email

well, just a week ago i had my custom pipe on my car almost a year and then i swap it out w/ DC TCS.
My custom pipes weret mandrel bent so when i took it off, it looks horrible and the performance sucks too.
I would say go w/ any Cat Back exhaust, because 1. they are mandrel bent and 2. most of them are stainless steel, where my custom was really reallly cheap water pipes.
and so far i seen around here, the civic that has the custom pipe seem to have rattling sounds everytime when it hits 4000 RPM, mine was too.

Okay, for one thing... Hardly exhaust shops do mandrel bent pipes. It is very rare and expensive. Another thing the difference between mandrel bent and crushed bent is that mandrel bent has a perfect bending while crushed bending is not. For example a 2.25" mandrel bent is a full pipe with 2.25" pipings and as for crushed bent say 2.25" piping around the bents it's not totally 2.25" it will be slightly off. To make it short, mandrel bent has no restrictions on air flow while crushed bent does. Get the picture? Anyway, you do the math on which you goin' to get. I think i might just get the magnaflow but I was considering the N1 With custom pipes.. It's a lot cheaper and i bet its the same. My friend has it on his neon and it sound good.. I like the TURBO N1 its slightly bigger... Will i have a problem since I don't have a Turbo?

I have the "turbo" sized N1 muffler. The thing is, is that the inlet is 3" so you'll need to weld on a reducer to get your 2.25" or what ever size pipe your using to get it on. Personally, i don't like it much but since mine was given to me, i can't complain
for the guys that have N1 catbacks (NOT custom pipes) where did you get yours? Apex'i must really suck at updating their website because our cars are not listed. I've seen them posted at optauto etc but I just wanted to know where it is offical (from the manufacturer )
