05 Lx sedan Tan/Tan to Tan/ tan/black conversion
05 Lx sedan Tan/Tan to Tan/ tan/black conversion
Sup Sup guys, working on audio now in the whip, alpine deck, 4 speakers, 2subs, the usual... but going to convert some trim pieces to black from tan.
Willing to do a pic by pic if wanted. Goin to use SEM spray Landau Black, so it will look stock and last a long while.
Right now thinking of converting top half front (darker tan chocolate color to black, same with front and back doors, and rear deck.
You guys think I should also paint the door armrest handle black?

Photochop, let me know what you guys think, and if i should do the armrests as well, i included it chopped

LMK
Update:
roof vinly and dent! thinking of hitting up the hood and trunk with the vinyl, as always a Q, should i do just the top of the the trunk or the whole lid(top, back) , and i'm planning on doing the dent work myself, rubber mallet

Re: 05 Lx sedan Tan/Tan to Tan/ tan/black conversion
Thanks for the comment, will take more pics of that process, right now just tearing my car apart putting in 4 speakers. Hands are all swollen, but well worth it.
The pillars i'll paint the chocolate black but leave it two tone the way it is now. Any idea how to take care of the headliner, the most cost effective way. All my mods so far have cost me $50 bucks, which should've totalled so far calculated more than $2k.
Aside from this what's the consensus about dyeing and spraying interior fabric? like carpet, seats, headliner?

i just did my headliner last nite for the first time it came out better then i thought it would .cost wise jo-ann faux suede on sale 40 bucks for six feet of the good stuff i think liz clairbourne 10 bucks for 3M high strength trim adhesive at wall-mart and 10 bucks for a hot glue gun if you dont have one and patience to put it on there are plenty of DIYs.

Re: 05 Lx sedan Tan/Tan to Tan/ tan/black conversion
the handle? or the armrest part on the door?? if ur refering to the armrest part it does come off, u just got to pop that rubbery trim piece that goes around it and u can paint it or w/e just fine, i did all my interior in orange, ill throw a pic up if you need it.
Re: 05 Lx sedan Tan/Tan to Tan/ tan/black conversion
good progress lowlife
cjtrager, i was looking more at the underside part of where the elbow would go (arm rest, cubby hole one piece). In my first post photochop, you see the entire arm rest is photoshop painted.
I think i could still do it if i were to mask around the groove but, dont know yet, let me know what you guys think of the three versions, full paint, top paint, no paint.
the rear deck looks sick imo happy so far

no i hot glued the excess material around the edges that you flip up and around the back of the head liner.

Re: 05 Lx sedan Tan/Tan to Tan/ tan/black conversion
contemplating on doing this, if i do, the head liner is definitely staying on, and I'm going to leave, the visors tan and handles tan for accents
what should i use for the middle console fabric? same material as head liner?

Re: 05 Lx sedan Tan/Tan to Tan/ tan/black conversion
im kinda worried about useing this particular fabric on my arm rest because of everyday wear. ive heard stories of fabric wearing out quickly and looking bad on armrest. i guess if it happens you could tear it of and start over. also i did not remove the old headliner fabric because it was fine and intact .
Re: 05 Lx sedan Tan/Tan to Tan/ tan/black conversion
yoooo brosefs, just finished... i feel accomplished. Did full top chocolate dash, top of doors, and rear deck, I'll post pics soon since my cam died.
The process is like my post with the rear deck, and luckily i took the before pics before. Time to figure out how to paint abs plastic. Contemplating leaving it black, on my tan car, it matches pretty well, thinking of blacking the stock grill. black, grill, black, tired, black window molding, black spoiler?
would getting my color mixed with a clear coat be good? or should you always keep the paint and clear coat seperate?

Re: 05 Lx sedan Tan/Tan to Tan/ tan/black conversion
would i be able to open the taillight and remove the red myself? or is it red plastic?
I'll definitely think about it. I want to do the camel toe arm rest first, top half sprayed black, and see how that fits with the theme.
I'm actually looking for a glossy black overlay for the roof. I know the flame around this, but I know that my car color tan and black, fit very well, and a glossy black would be great. Anyone know where i can get it around nyc/nj for around $40. I can install myself. Checked with this guy bluebatmobile, but he didnt msg me back yet.

Re: 05 Lx sedan Tan/Tan to Tan/ tan/black conversion
Again my 2 cents says to stop after the armrest. With interior stuff especially, knowing when to quit is important. It came out well. The only I would do on top of this are the pillars and the headliner. Other than that, just stop. It looks good and if you keep going it will be too much.
Re: 05 Lx sedan Tan/Tan to Tan/ tan/black conversion
digging the tan black, the transformation turned out great. sem paint landau black ftw!
I laid out a black vinyl on the roof and it looks real slick, will take pics
only thing, some deucheF_cK! either shop carted my fender or bumped my fender and left a nice doublefist sized dent... I'm thinking rubber mallet, any idea how to get the fender off?
