Re: Hail fuuuuuuuuuuuked my car up. (pics)

Yeah insurance covers it... it just won't be enough for me to get a new car.
Although it's enough for a pretty decent down payment on a new car...
I'm thinking about the new SI w/nav? Not sure yet though. I'm not really concentrating on that very much until I know what exactly is going to happen on Wednesday cuz that's when the insurance adjuster is coming.

I have no idea if people were outside to whomever asked.. I was out of town!

Re: Hail fuuuuuuuuuuuked my car up. (pics)

I found this video online.. The website says, "baseball sized" but my father told me it was more like softball sized hail at some certain point..

http://www.kirotv.com/video/13467631/index.html

There's some dumb advertisement you have to watch first then it loads the actual video.

I mean that's just bad, I've had hail damage but it was nothing compared. And I just feel for all the stereo equipment. It'll be nice to get new equipment but the loss in time to you is no good.

Anyway, I just took the A6 last month and found out I passed it yesterday. Thanks for the kind words, that test covers quite a few things outside the aftermarket electronic world so it's a good thing I studied for it a little. I'm going to use it as a springboard for the MECP Master which I will hopefully take this fall.

Dude, I'd repair it. New CF hood and trunk, a little bondo here a little paintless dent removal there, some new glass and done. That's really not that bad. Then again I'm coming at it from a different angle. I won't ***** my pics here, but I'm coming back from a lot worse. Either way you go, I hope everything works out for you.

Well I find out tomorrow morning if it really is declared 'totaled.' Anyway, at this point in time, I don't even care what happens to it, all I do know is that I'm tired of talking with insurance, asking what happened, and jumping through hoops..
If I get it fixed, I'll get a CF hood for sure..

Chris, going for the gold level?? Good luck with that my friend.. I personally have never taken the test as my employer won't pay for the test.. but I've heard it's pretty challenging with troubleshooting and such.. Ehh, then again if you've been installing for years (which I assume you have been) I'm sure you won't have a lot of issues as 99% of mobile electronics is gaining experience. But good luck with that as well. Yeah, I'm not that upset over the fact that my stereo equipment is all F'd up, but all the time it took... haha I'm going to see if I can get my boss to make me a fake receipt for the adjustor so it looks like I paid my shop to do all my labor for me.. Which TECHNICALLY, all my work was done there........... but however many hours x $60 an hour.. That in itself should buy me something pretty. haha

I would be hoping for totaled. The only way you won't be picking glass out of your *** for the next five years is if you pull that whole interior, seats, carpets, the works and go nuts with a wet/dry or whatever else you got. Just the other day I found more bits of broken glass under my seat. My driver's window was broken 8 months or so ago and I pulled the seat when I vacuumed. But if you go all out I think you'd be fine. How about how soaked is the carpet?

Yeah I guess we'll see with the MECP. My boss is all about me getting it and I have been studying for some time already with the ASE over a month ago. Just read Loudspeaker Cookbook and Handbook of Acoustics so I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do.

Holy **** dude.... holy ****. I log in to look at today's posts and I too am like "Oh hail" I proceed to click the link than BAM! That car, your car, got fuuuuuuuuuuuked up. I mean damn thats like straight out of Dantes Peak. [The scene where the boulder crashes on top of the truck and kills Perce Browsons character's wife.] Serious ****. Good luck with repairs.

1nahalf: I have to say I've actually never seen the movie but I'll have to check it out just to see the scene!

Chris: I spent about three hours vacuuming the other day. I pulled all three seats, removed the rear deck, and vacuumed and vacuumed.. However, every time I look inside the car, I can always find more. The whole interior of the car was SOAKED. I was told that it was so windy here that it was basically horizontal rain.. But the weather here has been pretty hot and dry lately so I've been pulling my car out in the sun every day since it happened, however.. I'm still going to have the insurance person check for mold and such also.. Loudspeaker Cookbook? Hmm, well I hope it's better than Car Stereo cookbook because I thought that book was a complete joke.

Re: Hail fuuuuuuuuuuuked my car up. (pics)

I hate those broken bits of glass man!!

Yeah the car stereo cookbook is pretty weak. The Loudspeaker Cookbook is a little different, it's an in depth look at speakers. Everything from different box types (closed, vented, passive radiator, transmission line), cabinet construction, T/S parameter testing, active/passive crossovers, and my favorite a subjective evaluation of diffraction effects. The guy who wrote it, Vance Dickason, does lots of stuff for Voice Coil magazine and I think Stereophile too. It doesn't have all the equations I'd like but does cover quite a few of them.
