retinting??

i wanna get the tint on my civic redone, its not dark enough and some of it peeled off on the back window...i want to know if its possible to redo it cause i know the back window has the defrost grid on it and thats usually just a big sticker placed over the window. Is that gonna get ripped off? how much do they usually charge for removal and retint? just an average price is good enough since its obviously depends where you go

im in the middle of doing the same thing (retinting my car) and the place that i am taking it to tomarrow will strip the tint for $100 bucks and then treat it like any other car that goes in with no tint and charge starting at $150 and it goes up from there (depending on type of tint and the % of tint).

on the other hand i probably will take the tint off myself and save $100 it easily can be done with a razor and maybe some windex to loosen it up.

you take the chance that the defrost lines peel off. sometimes they do sometimes they dont. if even one comes off, the whole thing might not work cause its connected together.

i think you can do it yourself just use like a razor blade and just peel the tint off. thats what i seen the guy do when i wanted to go 5% all the way around. for what it costs to take the tint off should be like $15 or well thats how much they charge at my place

I just did this a few months ago. I used this site for help. The best method I found was to use a heat gun to get the film off. Then use some "0000" steel wool with dish soap and water in a spray bottle. You can use a razor in the corners of the glass. I didn't mess up any of my defrost lines. Just don't use a razor in the rear. The guys at the tint shop told me I did a great job. Good luck, it takes a little time to get a good method going.
