1000 mile drive?

well in june i graduate and im getting the hell out of overpriced and overrated california and going back to the hometown (KC)im just wondering how my civic would hold up. i have the usual i/h/e and im kind of worried that those parts might start to overheat etc. (esp the headers) what do you guys think. does the short ram intake, headers and intake make a big diff because it needs to hold up for about 1000 miles

btw i doubt those things would overheat anything more than any other part out there. my friend has the same setup as you and he drives his car to the ground.

Not sure about an automatic.. but if its a 5 speed, it should be fine.. I make a 350 mile drive to the beach at least three times a year, (in one afternoon) and driving 70 - 90 in 5th 95% of the way the car doesnt over-heat at all by the end of the trip. I've got the AEM v2 CAI, 4-1 headers, and 2'' piping with a glasspack on my 04 civic. But take it from me.. if your car doesnt have cruise control, take a break every 100 miles.. get out stretch walk around for 5 or 10 minutes. If you dont, you'll seriously considder looking for a brick to put on the throttle

none of those parts will make your car overheat, unless you have something seriously wrong, they have no interaction with the cooling system. good luck and safe driving.

I've done 500 miles in day from New Jersey to North Carolina and 500 back. The car held up fine. No overheating what so ever if your cruisin the speed limit + 10mph. I have a similar setup to you. Just make sure you have clean oil and air filter and correct tire pressure.

AEM intake will be fine so should the headers. Headers will just make the AC sux big time. Anyways ya go for it and remember to take breaks.

You'll be fine. Like everyone else said, change the oil, filter and air filter before you leave, and take some breaks from driving. Best thing about these cars is you'll only have to stop for gas twice.

I have a DC header and also an AEM short ram...I made an 860 mile almost non-stop trip with no problem, with the exception of being tired!

no problems, my vic never gets above like 1/4 mark on temp, but im stock, just have fresh oil and filter, and if you have some miles, and you are worried about overhating, you might think about getting a colling system flush and put some new antifreeze in there.

Its bad that cali is so far away from KC where hes trying to go!

I could think of a long list of whats wrong with cali.. smh. Get out man!! Although, I wouldnt suggest driving 1,000 miles in one streach. I know i'd go crazy, 100 or 150 is my breaking point. Watch out for highway hypnosis- 1,000 miles and i'd be flipping out and ****, haha.

BTW, Take a look at your coolant level and color before you take off.

Good luck

I had 80,000 miles on my civic and made the trip from Dallas to Key West and back (over 3500 miles in 2 weeks) without any problems with intake and exhuast. Didn't have a header but I doubt it would make any difference.

speaking of miles i've driven a TON lately.. 500 miles a week and a half ago, just got back sunday from a 1200mile round trip.. with an additional 200miles coming home from school gonna be making another trip tomorrow to chicago and back (~350 round trip though) and i've also made 2 trips that were about 100miles round.. possibly another 100mile trip after chicago too.

2450 miles in a little under 2 weeks.

good thing I dont freak out after 150 :P
