no! hids are for better vision. no matter if you go 12-4300k. youll get better vision. but when you say you need that rice look, getting halogens is petarded. btw, remember to get a upgrade harness. if you dont retro fit! go 8000. youll love it.

No, if you get anything higher than 4300k, it's worse than stock halogens.
Waste of money.

For the thread starters

Get valeo projectors off a4 fits perfect.
Try to get used ballasts, d2s bulbs, and make own harness.

It's gonna cost more than $300.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha

8000k hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

10,000k hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

you all lose output with anything more than 6000k. ever wonder why the luxury cars come with 4100k bulbs? it's not for looks, but rather functionality.

my 5000k puts out better than halogens did.. i wouldnt plan on getting anything more than that.. but thats just me..

and yes, 8000k and 10000k are just ridiculous.. what's even worse than that is 12000k.. its like hooking up a black light to your headlights..

bixenons only come with oem projectors which will ony use d2s/d3s/d4s bulbs.

are you planning to spend 250-300 on the projectors alone? because they average 160-400 a pair... and a oem ballast+bulbs will run you 200+

retro will cost you 800+

so you did mention bixenon, so thats y i said what i said.

they are still about 1.5-2 times brighter than halogen. (8000k)

wrong. halogen is anywhere from 700Lm to 900Lm

4250k - 3200lm (oem)
5000k - 2700lm
6000k - 2400lm
8000k - 1800lm
10000k - 1500lm

average.

btw, all of you who run retro, i highly suggest getting a 12awg wiring harness for ur hids....

nothing less than 12awg....16awg is not good enought to support 2 ballast @ startup.

most ebay hid wiring harness are made with 16awg...FYI

No ****.
Because you probably have pnp kit, which is not made for stock headlights housing and glaring all over the place.

Brighter doesn't mean they give better lighting output.

someone just called me out? wtf? ban.

think about it like this: what can the humans eyes see better with - yellow or blue light? yellow. why is it that car manufacturers (OEM) use 4100k, with an option for color matched bulbs which are 5000k or 6000k? it's because 4100k is closest to the color of the sun, with just that slight hint of ricer blue. most of the color you are seeing from the higher end cars are from the projectors color band - this is at the cut off between light and darkness. with the above example, there is no projector, just a plug and play hid kit in a really bad reflector housing. there is way too much glare, so no cut off.

8000k will indeed be brighter than halogens in terms of lumens output, but when will you be able to see the road with all 1800 lumens of BLUE light? you won't. everyone else will see you coming because of your ridiculously ricer-*** glare, sure. but none of that glare will be useful in lighting the road IN FRONT OF YOU.

so is it better to get hids if you have projectors rather than a regular housing?

no depending...what ur circumstances are.

throwing PnP hid in civic 04-05 are not THAT bad.... there is a little glare, but you should push it down a bit...

throwing PnP hids in 01-03 is not as great, beecause u lose the hibeam function...and in general, it is bad, because there is no bottom shield go shield off the glare....so mad glare.

NOTE: pnp stands for plug and play, which is refereed to anything except the oem hids which consists of dXs/r bulbs
