Rep Power: 0 Who Says We Cant Do 135?
Out of sheer boredom i went to the highway to see what i could push ...
heres the results..
the 135 pic is really shaky and taken from a camera phone .. the 130 pic is clear and taken from the same camera..
135
sorry for the shaky ness and weird angle but its all i could take it at quickly.. but if you tilt your head to the side youll notice the needle is halfway between 130 and 140 ...
130
oh and my tribute to honda... ive been badged..

I never really payed attention to the gas gauge when I did it, I was too concerned with paying attention to the road, and watching my speedo and tach.

my thing is i drive my car alot around the base and city driving alot so i rarely ever get the highway drives in ... and i know it helps the motor by running it hard once in a blue moon to clean it out..
i just did it to see what it could do , clean it out , and that was all its not like i do 130 everyday ... i was pushing roughly 6000-6400 rpms at 135... so it was almost completely topped out... then i got back changed out the oil and filter , changed tranny oil out too ..
i do regular maintenance on my civic because i know the car can last for a extended period of time with care.. so thats what im doing.. i mean .. ya i may have potentially caused or could have caused internal damage but as of right now she runs well.. shes got 110k on the ticker and runs quieter than an 05 cvic.
i had just filled up and put some marvel mystery oil in the oil and gas and threw some seafoam in it to clean it out .. plus the 6k rpms made it clean.. i cant even hear my car idle anymore.. no one does it runs sooo quiet ...

Rep Power: 228 i guess if your car has stock internals and some modifications like cai/sri, exhaust you might damage your car but if you are going to consider emanage, cam shaft, cam gears, valves, valve springs, cai, catback, you might be okay in away because of that upgrades. some might disagree on my statement but d17 engine has potential. it's just a matter of knowing the limit.

Rep Power: 261 Crazy going that fast but at least you were as safe as you could be at that speed.
Going high speeds won't hurt the engine unless you run it at the red line for an extended amout of time....engines are made to be run, and they are made to run until the red line, thats why we have it. Thats what I've always been told and its true, engines are built to be pushed.

Rep Power: 787 ive had to drive at 5k rpms for at least 30 mins climbing mountains. my car is still fine. just keep it below redline and its fine. the engine was made for it.
