Rep Power: 0 Is it even worth it?
I wanted to know if its even worth boosting a vp model motor for the 05 civic. Since it's not a vtec motor I didn't know if it would even be worth the money. I asked a tech at my work which happens to be a honda dealership about swapping motors but he said that it's supposedly an electrical nightmare to swap motors for my year of civic. Can anyone help me with these two questions?

Head swap to EX head then boost. There is a DIY on it and its actually not too complicated.

Rep Power: 0 wow... can you get a discount at your work? cause if you can then you are set.... head gasket and bolts aren't that cheap. I think the 20whp added compared to what my stock ES1 came with is good... and from what i've seen people post... i got 10whp more than stock EX. The biggest thing is getting a VAFCII cheap. The rest is pretty easy.
Xproductions also said some technical stuff about how it should be better when you boost with this setup... but it confused me alot.
I had the swap done and i'm happy with it.

Rep Power: 0 that has something to do with making the swapped half breed D17A1/D17A2 technically better for boosting... Xproductions talked alot about it... but i don't wanna go too much into detail about something that gives me headaches.
c1v1c783, it'd say go for it if you can find all the parts at decent price and wanna go through with it.
Just make sure you have people that know what they are doing do it for you.... i had mine worked on twice cause the first shop half @$$'d it.

Rep Power: 241 most of these people are right. If you are commited to the d17 and the Civc then head swap and turbo. Otherwise go for a swap. It's more money, but should make more power.

A head swap isn't really necessary but if you have the money to do so than go ahead.

Rep Power: 0 oh come on now Gearbox.... i know you had big problems, but alot of people haven't... ok i did at first... but i blame the shop for that.
Most people swear by a swap... but i know i couldn't afford that before or even now. Heck... i can't afford to boost yet.
josh_b seems to be the first one to come to mind that has done alot with the head swap being done. I asked Xproductions acouple questions back when i was getting mine done... i'll have to find the pm.

Rep Power: 0 ^^^ your right... heck most of the knowledgable guys left are more down for saying "search" than anything... and that goes not just for swaps or boost. But there are a decent amount of great people left.... i think it's just in a transition phase.
