glovebox gauges? (pic)
Well i wanna try to avoid being a ricer and having a cockpit with gauges everywhere, so I decided to stuff em in the glove box. The other two are reserved for water temp and tranny temp. Opinions? They will light up amber/red to match the dash lights...
I sure wish my car was newer

I think it's a pretty cool idea. Most people don't drive with setups where they actually need their gauges to be on the dash or the pillar, so it's a good choice, imo.
It would be realllllly cool though if you fiberglassed it in...
Oh, and by the way, I definately approve of your sig.

only problem with fiberglass is it will be hard to take it out/access the gauges if i need to change something. they are easy to see, just gotta look over at em.

ya i'm planning on getting one of those (prolly a wideband) and put it on the pillar with a single pod since its the most important.

yea, i might be turboing this summer too, i decided on the 3 pillar gauge pod to show off either the Defi-Link Meter BF or Autometer Nexus gauges and AEM wideband. I figured if i spend that much on gauges that work good, why not show em off while i'm at it.

All in all the gauges will be like $650...A local place can get me the EGT and Boost for about $350. Then i'll need the box that runs them, about $100 for that. Reason i want them is cause they will match my gauges perfectly.

Yeah, I had the BF's, and I'll probably rebuy them (sold em lol). I'm putting 3 BF's above the central air vents and the link display to the left of the cluster hump heh. Gotta rebuild my guy back up

it can be yes, if i need to read the gauges. Otherwise it just closes like normal. its out of the car now until i put some gauges in. i just cut a slit in that bump part so i could push in the gauge panel and have it be level.

I never could understand why you would put the gauges in the glovebox. Gauges are so important, specially when your running a boosted car, they have to be as close to you as possible. Whatever floats your boat. Good luck with the install.
If you drive with the glove box open it's going to rattle.. Mine does that when I keep it open with my ps2 in it. Even if you fiberglass them the box itself is going to rattle every bump.. gets annoying.. If you're going for a unique setup then awesome. You're going to need them though. I say find another spot.

A good idea with the pod...here is something else to consider that I did for mine...

I cut lexan and made brackets behind it...the screws now have covers over them too...removable and functional!!

wow nice! yea i'll think about something with the rattle. its easy if i want it to stay open I can put putty around the stoppers to keep it open. But other people get in and i have to close it. so i'll figure out something

actually i've heard autometer has more problems with some of their gauges. Everyone with vdo gauges is happy with them. Do you have experience or just assuming cheap gauges don't work.

was it a vdo gauge by chance? i'm not really worried about the turbo gauge anyway since i'll only be running 5psi max.

its not ricey if they serve a purpose, just put them under the head unit glassed in or under the climate controls near the cup holders where the cigarette lighter is, then wiring them will be somewhat quicker too.
Well, if you're concerned about being a ricer, don't be. If your car is turbo'd, there's no concern. The gauges are all necessary, not for show. I say put them in the pillar, or run the 2 gauge setup in the current cluster. Glovebox will be a bitch, and it'll be hard as hell to see.
