Looking For An Intake

I have a 2005 Honda Civic (Guess I didn't need to clarify that) SIG, I want to get an intake but not sure what is right for my car, A short ram, or cold air? I live in northern Ontario Canada (That means some winter days are -40)

Any suggestions on what I should get and brands?

Thanks

K&N is about the only proven intake. but intakes do not do much for our cars. so basically get whatever you want it won't make a diffrence. And please use search because this topic has been covered about 2658134876 times.

Go with Ebay. Same gains, but for like $40-$50.

what else are you planning to do with your car? because if you arnt buying it for looks i would just stick with stock. Just buy a used k&n or AEM and buy a new filter.

jttegx has a spectacular aura aboutjttegx has a spectacular aura about
if your dealing with water/rain/floods, short ram.

i think the cold air is louder since the filter sits closer to the front bumper. both sound the same to me.

heres a good list of short ram intakes for the 01+ civic. just make sure you have the correct model because theres some for automatics, manuals, ex, lx/dx, etc.

-AEM SRI
-K&N FIRK II (best but most $)
-K&N typhoon (lower model than firk II but prob 2nd best?)
-Injen Short Ram
-DC Sports? not sure if they make a sri

if your looking for gains, K&N FIRK II is your best bet. but gains off an intake on the d17 powerplant yields like 1-2hp. whereas your low end power would decrease (in most cases), but you notice the power at high end. same with exhaust catbacks.

you can go ahead and get the ebay one, but your missing out on 100% gauranteed product, guaranteed fitment, warranty, etc. i bought an generic ebay intake for my older corolla but it was missing clamps/hoses. so i had to use a universal i paid few bucks for at home depot.

paradoxblue will become famous soon enough
i live in sask

i got a cold air...

it wasnt the best for winters. in ont u make be ok. but i would get a short ram. looks cooler under the hood since you can see the filter. sounds awesome
i felt a slightly quicker response ( no more hp or speed. jsut a bit more of a snap. i also tightend my throttle cable also though. hehe

i would jsut get a generic ebay short ram. i jsut bought one to upgrade in my cer heh..

just keep the filter clean is all i can say
