Oven Temp
I was wondering what temperature to heat the oven up to when clearing my headlights. I've searched but nothing.

Sedan and 04/05 lights have a stronger/thicker sealant around the bead.. easier to get apart with heating. Coupe 01-03s shouldn't be a problem with no baking - might need a blow-dryer to help along, but nothing too drastic. As for why on earth this post is in Member's Rides rather than say "Lighting" subforum
And I'm almost certain you can find an answer in that section as well..

all of this is covered in the sticky in lighting forum under the 04-05 headlight clearing thread.
anyhoot, use silicone. GE silicone II from home depot. $5 a tube.
hair dryer probably won't work and it will take FOREVER to heat up the headlight to the appropriate temperature. buy a heat gun (it will distort your headlight casing), or use the oven (risk melting your headlight casing). either way, if you mess up, you lose.

I would rather it take forever and get it done right then ruin my headlight by heating it up too hot. I may just buy new projector headlights.

Yeah but infinite012, I believe he's working on doing his 02 headlights .. which should be a lot easier than 04/05 (and/or sedan headlights) .. in which case he might not need to oven-heat ..
In any event, I'd still say search the lighting forum and/or perhaps asking local regional members to Ohio for some assistance.

I just pried mine apart in the summer. on a nice 120 degree day they came apart nicely. I have an 01 coupe.
yeah, broil should work, or a brick fire oven. like a brick pizza oven, that will warm em up enough

I heated mine up to 275 or 300 F, and then turned it off, and then put in my headlights. I left them in there until the oven cooled, and it was pretty easy. But yea, 01 headlights aren't hard to get apart.

02 coupe headlights are a cinch! just take a flat head screw driver to the inner corner (the pointy part that is furthest from the turn signal), pry the corner apart, then work your way around the headlight. if you need any extra help, use a cerrated (sp?) blade so that you can cut the glue before it separates into two long strands, thus landing on your chrome reflector piece and ruining your headlights.

Hey i finished up my headlights, looks great, i had help with the front bumper, didn't need to really use a anything to heat it up, nice hot day no humidity at all, used a generous amount of silicone to make sure they didn't leak, all in all it was easy and awesome.
I also ordered 2004 Stock Tail lights, got me a pair for 112.50, brand new he took them off because he puts ricer euros on his "show" car.
