Goodbye Civic, Hello Prelude.. your opinions please

Well, I've had my car for going on three years, I've never owned the same car for this long and I'm thinking it's time to part with it. I'm thinking about selling it for $9k and calling it good. There's a 1997 Honda Prelude SI for sale in town for $6500 with a T3/T4, rims, intake, exhaust, a few internals, ACT clutch, and new tires. There's 70,000 miles on the car. I took it for a ride and everything checks out fine. Oh and for those who are wondering, it's only pushing about 14 psi.. Good deal? I called my insurance company and I'd be saving about $700 a year on insurance switching to that. Although I know I'll be putting it into synthetic oil changes and premium gas but I guess I'd be willing to deal with that. What do you think?

IMO, I wouldn't do it. 70,000 miles is a little too much for me.
But it's your call man, your choice.

I'd go for it... But I'd probably be concerned about the longevity of the engine and such...

70k on a honda is nothing. I had 191k on my camry and the engine and tranny were still strong. I agree about the turbo though. Most people who are willing to spend the money on turbo, also beat the crap out of there cars racing, if not then there's not point in turboing your car. So just be aware of that. The older M3's are nice, but there expensive as hell to repair. Take the cost of a civic part and add $200-500 a part and thats the cost of a European part.

isn't 14 psi a lot? especially for a prelude with a "few internals" the compression on a prelude is really high. Don't most people only run like 5-6 psi on preludes (stock)

Heres the problem with ludes, that 14 psi setup better be reinforced cuz the sleeves suck *** Fiber Reinforced Matrix and for 14 psi it should be sleeved. If that's the case then when was the block rebuilt? If it's not sleeved and he's running 14 psi on stock sleeves I would highly suggest against buying it. The synchros on them are a bit delicate I find, my 2 friends have both replaced 3rd and 5th twice this year. You'll have to run higher octane gas as well and oil changes will have to be done about every 3,000 km's considering how much boost your running. But you still have all your luxuries if it's a loaded model I think even 97's came with heated seats and mirrors as well as sunroofs and wtv else you want as far as that.

*** what they all said. I would love to get my hands on a car like that. Plus no need to further modify the engine, so no wasting money on parts. Sheat i was tricked into my vic when i was trying to get into a '96 prelude. Now 1997 with only 70,000 miles is a cause for concern only cuz it seems that maybe something went wrong with it and was garaged for a while or the guy is just like my friend and barely drives it. Either way, these cars are easily repairable and cheap. I say go for it. I know i would.

Out of curiosity...weren't those model-year Preludes called either SR or SR-V?
