Exhaust Question
I'm going to be purchasing this exhaust from a guy on ebay and I was wondering about this muffler, its a APEXI N1 UNIVERSAL TURBO EXHAUST MUFFLER 156-A003. Do i need my car to be turbo, or does it matter?

unless youre running turbo then that muffler is way too big. you dont NEED to be running turbo, but i would suggest it. look at how big the inlet is. if youre not running turbo then get the regular version.

Dude don't even think about buying one of those for performance. No none of the import mufflers will look funny on your car, somone somewhere has worse. None of the mufflers are going to sound all THAT much different without a complete exhaust system. A full cat-back will give you better performance anyday, just a muffler won't give you crap except a little more sound. Our cars have a premuffler, before the muffler, which deadens the noise. This is why axel-back exhausts don't make as much noise as cat-backs.
I have a Ractive muffler on my car, looks much like the N1 you showed, yet I only paid around $30 for it. Sounds good, looks good......works for me. If I was going for performance I woulda gotten a whole system, but this is all I wanted as it just didn't look right without an enlarged tip.

Well i wimped out last night, i didn't order my exhaust, I'm still not quite sure what exhaust I want and I want to make sure when i buy it that i know for sure what I want. I want a deep sounding exhaust, i'm going to be doing a name brand muffler and custom exhaust and then down the road i might buy headers. Any thought on what exhaust i should buy. I wanted the Apex'i N-1 Exhaust, but i seen a video/sound clip of it and it was really loud and raspy. I don't mind the loudness but i would like it to be a lower sound. Any help would be great.

its called a resonator. not premuffler. Just lettin ya know. and yeah, it makes the car a lot quieter. If you get rid of it, it will help free up some backpressure. I got rid of mine a long time ago.

Do you need an O2 Simulator when you cut out the resonator? Or just cut the resonator and weld a new pipe back? How much louder will it be?
