Problems wit cluster conversion

For some reason my fuel gauge isnt working even after checking the wires, its reading empty with indicator on. Last night i tried hookin up the yellow and black wire and it worked but the thing is that it was too short so as i tried to put the cluster back on the pin broke off the wire. Im like oh great . But the thing is that theres 2 white and red wires and one of em isnt hooked up and is not on the diagram. So i printed out a wiring diagram and that white&red wire is for washer fluid level indicator which is no biggie so i just cut that off and used that to extend the yellow black wire. Hooked it up and it still didnt work. What could be the problem?? Does anyone know which wire is which?? It really sux when u cant tell how much gas u have I need to know exactly which wire is which

i would try to help you, but i'm at school right now.

what i did, though, was extend the wire that you have left over from the green plug, and brought it over to the blue plug. i think that's what it is.

Hmmmm..... Cuz the wire left over is white and red which i dont really care cuz its the washer fluid level indicator according to my wiring diagram...and for sure i know that the yellow and black wire is return signal from the fuel tank..
