what looks better?
so next weekend i'm thinking about blacking out my headlights.
i want to know what looks better on a silver car, fully blacked out with turn signals, or everything blacked out except the area behind the turn signals...

it depends. with a cf hood it looks better all blacked out, imo. without a cf hood, everything but the parking and turn signals. just like in the two pics you posted.

Black it out, leave the reflectors in, and you know the little circle part - mask that off.
Personally I'd rather gunmetal than black on a silver car...

If done with care the headlights won't chip or fog up. There are several excellent DIY's floating around the site (including one by yours truly)....search around, headlight clearing/painting is dead easy.

the oven is used to open the two halves of the headlight. Then there's a chrome insert held on by screws. Take that out and then the amber piece pops off.

Not sure if you posted some that look like this. I like how mine are painted the best, at least with my car, IMO! If I get a cf hood, it will still match nicely like this. Enjoy. I did these a few weeks ago.
