what looks better? so next weekend i'm thinking about blacking out my headlights. i want to know what looks better on a silver car, fully blacked out with turn signals, or everything blacked out except the area behind the turn signals... examps.... fully blacked out... http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...le_kit-med.jpg partially... http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...08fc54fa3c.jpg |
it depends. with a cf hood it looks better all blacked out, imo. without a cf hood, everything but the parking and turn signals. just like in the two pics you posted. |
more examps.... http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...44801civic.jpg without orange turns.... http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...16100_0037.JPG http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...1headlight.jpg oh and i'm also going to be putting on orange sidemarkers in the near future.... CF hood is a possibilty also |
Black it out, leave the reflectors in, and you know the little circle part - mask that off. Personally I'd rather gunmetal than black on a silver car... |
partially hands down :sweet: |
how do you black them out? |
i perfer partially black out. but fully black out is more easy to do it. |
but how do you do it? |
Paint it with flat black. I have a set of sedan lights blacked out with turn signal and parking light chrome. $75 shipped :) |
humm seems like it would chip easy..? |
If done with care the headlights won't chip or fog up. There are several excellent DIY's floating around the site (including one by yours truly)....search around, headlight clearing/painting is dead easy. |
on a ssm cleared out looks better 2 me |
how could i clear mine?? i have a big amber reflector in mine lol how can i take that out? |
if you plan on getting a CF hood i say fully balacked out. |
oven is so easy. Stick in to heat em up at 250F for 5 mins, pull em apart with gloves, then use the same way to reseal. |
what??? put them in the oven???? that seems crazy?? is that to black them out or clear them?? |
for both. it works trust me and really easy. I just did my fourth set a week or two ago. |
how does it work if your wanting to clear them? |
the oven is used to open the two halves of the headlight. Then there's a chrome insert held on by screws. Take that out and then the amber piece pops off. |
ok i get that part, But how do i re seal them good, just like they were stock |
i would say black out the headlights but leave the turn signals and parking lights untouched..that looks tight! |
isnt the turn signal and parking lights the same thing? |

might just be the getin thing to do, but where do you paint them? on the inside or outside? |
Not sure if you posted some that look like this. I like how mine are painted the best, at least with my car, IMO! If I get a cf hood, it will still match nicely like this. Enjoy. I did these a few weeks ago. http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...dlight-med.jpg |
are you painting the inside of the light?? or outside |
my ride https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...ognewheads.jpg i didnt have to put my lights in the oven, just start prying at a corner.. edit: im very attached to my amber :giggle: |
how do you seal them back up?? |
