Our civics junk??

ive been reading up on them. i got my 01 lx 2 dr. for $8,999 + tax. it had 22k miles on it when i bought it and now i have almost 26k. But it seems that the resale on them arent much. and also ive seen that people (not on this website) have had problems with the front suspension. and the air conditioning messes up. 1 more thing. everyone with a 5 spd. when you switch gears, is it crunchy? mine seems like it just crunches into gear. what does everyone think about all this?

wow. it really shouldnt crunch into gear. mine never has, ive got 40k. ive never had a problem with my civic, it has a 100k warranty which definetely adds resale value. i read an article on msn recently, and the civic was one of the highest resale value cars, has been for a long time. my ac works fine too! i guess its all just luck of the draw.

I dunno you must be pretty unfortunate to have all these problems on your ride. the suspension problem could be fixed for free during the recall period.

no no, this is what i read up on. everything on my car works just fine. not to concerned about the tranny though, i think it might be normal cause its not that bad. my brothers 03 ep3 feels the same and ive noticed that the older civics 92-00 hold their value more than ours. and mine is an lx, so i dont know how much it would hold its value

I have the 2002 EX Auto. Tranny suks! Clunks a lot but most say it's normal. It scares me to be honest. I don't look for my tranny to last much longer. Honda won't admit to any problems. I had it checked out twice.

some poeple have those problems but for the majority our civic is a nice reliable car. couple members on here have already hit 100k+ miles and report no problems what so ever

If you take a look at Consumer Reports (which does extensive testing on autos) you will find that the civic has always been a highly recommended car. Check the ratings out, and you will see.

Yeah, I've had similar problems with my transmission. I brought it in to Honda under warranty, but they didn't find anything... Occassionally it still doesn't let me engage in first gear, but it seems to do it when I first start driving the car/cold. I dunno, I may just open up the center console and look around if it keeps doing it/ picks up in consistency... (maybe if everyone who has problems with it reports it to honda, they'll eventually admit it?)

I've had no luck with anything regarding CR. I cancelled my subscription after a few things I bought because their reports, failed me big time. I guess everything I touch just turns to poo... who knows.

everything works great on my car, no complaints other than being a little slow.

My auto transmission clunks a lot too, and honda couldnt find anything wrong with it, of course. But other than that, the transmission shifts really smoothly, and at the perfect time. Another thing i dont like is that the rear suspension bounces a lot. Otherwise its a great car.

on a few occasions my manual 02 dx wouldnt let me engage 1st, i had to go to second then back to 1st to get it to go it, im wondering if its got something to do with the synchro.. second gear is the only sloppy gear in my car, its the only one that feels different and sometimes, as soon as i put the clutch down it pops itself out of second. Rarely, but it happens. Youd figure you wouldnt encounter these problems until later down the line. and i cant forget the squeaky clutch no one knows how to fix.
