7th Gen Member Passed Away!! R.I.P Samari
Wow, i just found out about this earlier
i looked up to sam and what he did with his car although i never said so here...he was so dedicated and knew exactly what he was doing and i wish i could be as dedicated as him
i remember when i first got on this site reading all of the louisiana posts with him and some others talking about ther 1/4 mile times and stuff they were planning on getting thinking "i cant wait to start on my car, even if it is a slow automatic sedan, heh"
i didnt get to meet him or talk much to him, but im sure he was a great guy and his car will definately be remembered by me as one of the very best
Rest in peace fellow 7thgen owner and Louisianian...

They are now with god safe of harm and they now watch over us as angels. To Sam and Devi you will both be missed but not forgotten. My blessing go to all family and friends of these two.
For those that are close i know how bad it feels cuz i lost my step dad tragicly. Sam is in my prayers and will be missed as one of the best people to post here at 7thgen.

My condolences. I really hope that the proper authorities investigate the accident thoroughly and improve the layout of that crossing. Such a shame to lose 2 young people with their lives ahead of them....

Well, as tragic as this is. There is something that is coming out of it. Though it won't bring anyone back, looks like crossing gates are possibly gonna be installed.

wow, REST IN PEACE, my condolences to his family and his girlfriends family, as well as all his friends and everyone who knew him. I remember speaking to him on occassion. Very cool guy. Good person passing away due to lack of safety precautions by this railroad crossing. I hope someone takes this event and tries to set it as an example for this to not happen in the future.

Damn I still am in shock over this man... He was such a cool guy... I talked to him all the time about all kinda stuff..... He had so much life left to live... Once again my heart goes out to his family and friends...
This thread should be printed by some one local and given to his family so they can see how much his 7thgen family cared about him as well...

RIP Brotha
I never actually got to meet or talk to him, but it sounds like he was a real good guy. I used to see him driving around town and actually saw him that day around 1 o'clock.
Even though I didn't know him personaly it hit me hard. I couldn't believe that he could be there one sec and gone the next. I my self almost got hit one day. It was raining so hard and I had the AC blastin to keep my windows from fogging. I didn't even hear the horn from the train. The street where i was crossing had no bars or lights just like many other streets. Luckily the timing was right and I crossed just in time. THat's why it hit me so hard. It could have been me or my wife or anybody. I just hope the city will open there eyes and do something to stop these senseless deaths. My prayers go out to all the families.

thanks to everyone
Hello people,
This is Sam's sister, Mary Tidwell. I would just like to express my appreciation to everyone that has sent out their condolences and prayers for my family and myself. It's hard to understand why God would do such a thing to such beautiful people, but as they say----It's God's will and God's plan. Contrary to what the papers and reports have been saying, my brother DID NOT try to beat that train. Whoever the witness was that said this will be held accountable for it. He knows better than do ever do such a thing. Apparently his car stalled on the tracks and both Devie and Sam tried to get out, but were unfortunatly unable to do so. It brings peace and contentment to my heart and mind to know that although I long for the both of them to be here with all of us, I know for sure, that they are in a much happier place along side the Lord our God. One day, we will all be together again.
My family would like to send out an invite to everyone to attend their wake and funeral which are to be held on Friday and Saturday of this week. The wake will be from 5-8 on Friday at Boone's funeral home on Airline Dr. and the actual ceremony will be held at Bellaire Baptist Church at 10 am on Saturday on Barksdale Blvd. If you have any questions feel free to call me at 453-1570.
I ask that you keep my family and Devie's family in your constant prayers.
Thanks once again,
Mary Tidwell

I'm so sorry to hear of this Mary. I actually registered on this forum to look for Civic parts, but I knew Sam through the Residence Hall. He was my RA for my freshman year. Absolutely great guy, the Air Force would have been ecstatic to have him in their forces. I always saw him around town (and at the gym, where he was 90% of the time, heh.) with his girlfriend and would always wave to him when he noticed me.
My friend actually told me about this just now, and I got on here to see if anyone had known yet. I'm so sorry to hear of this.
RIP Sam Tidwell.

Unbelievable, Havent talked to him in awhile, but i used to talk to him all the time on AIM. Im speachless , so sad. Wierd how something like this can hit you so hard, without even meeting someone in person. RIP bro.

he'll definately be missed around here, and everywhere else he ever went to. he was a very cool guy, he went out of his way to help me when i didn't even know him. MREEZYSMRS, don't feel "silly" i've made it my personal goal to the lambo kit on he sold me by this weekend as my own kind of tribute to him.. may sound dumb, but i can't be there for his funeral or anything, so it's just kinda my way of saying, "thanks" and "goodbye.. for now" after this weekend, hopefully we can all stop feeling so sad, and just start to smile when we think about him and think of all the good times.. and about how he's better off now, along with his girlfriend. at least that's how it went last time i had a friend die. now i smile everytime i think about her, i just hope it's the same way for all of us with Sam..

What a tragedy.
