So I have been doing a whole lot of research and have narrowed it down to the Alpine CDA 9827 or the 9831 which is apparently new and very hard to find at a good price, or the Pioneer DEH 7600MP, there was also the 760MP but I'm having trouble finding that one. So if you could put in your ideas about which one is best that would be great. Thank you once again.

7600mp and the 760mp are the basically the same thing, the 760 is the premier model, and the 7600 is pioneer and premier to pioneer is like lexus to toyota, they are basically the same thing. It is a nice unit, i had the model one lvl higher than the 7600, and it was cool, just had some problems reading MP3 discs...alpine units read alpine discs VERY well... i remember i had a scratched up disc, and the pioneer one couldn't read it, but when i got my alpine (7998 model), it read everything, even scratched dics. Good reputation.

and the other members are right, crutchfield isn't the cheapest place around, and if your bf knows how to handle this kind of audio stuff, you can just get it off any of the sites the other members provided, and pay less.

just make sure u dont get scammed n all that bs.

OR how about a nice component set? what IF he decides to go with the dvd indash and that "higher" tech. stuff for audio =\

i have a pioneer dec (deh-4400) old deck but still in working condition n functions perfectly fine. purchased it brand new for 250 at frys with free installation 2 years ago. retails today for a sad amount of $150ish

Well I just wanted to thank everyone for their help. Taking everything into consideration, I ended up getting him the Alpine CDA-9831 and if he doesn't like it he can always return it. So thanks for everything!
