Hey man I reallly want to help you, but please be warned everything I have written is out of presumption. I plan on doing a taillight swap in the future too, but until then I really don't know what the difference is.

Ok. so basically the thing that's hold the turnsignal bulb and brake light bulb won't fit the sockets in the taillamp right? so go here:

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...-LICENSE+LIGHT

That is for a 2004 coupe. Don't be fooled by the picture. What you need to buy is #4, #6, or #23 in the picture. I forgot which are for the Turn signal, parking, and reverse light. IF you know then buy just the one you need. They come in a set of 2 each so just order 1 quatity. ALSO GET BULBS because chances are, the 2003 bulb won't fit in the new 2004 bulb holder that you are buying.

I had the same problem with the projectors I bought. The bulb holder of my coupe wouldn't fit the projector socket because the socket was designed for sedan bulb holders; so I ordered sedan bulb holders and bulbs from there. Trust the website; they are dealerships in Massachusettes. I've never major problems with them; and you won't find the stuff you're looking for at Hondawerx or HandA. Shipping's 1 week TOPS.

Let me know if this plan works. Then you can post a DIY in the DIY section

www.HONDAAUTOMOTIVEPARTS.com
They have 2004 parts in stock for those who are thinking of swaps!

I'm not sponsored by them, or shamelessly advertising. I just want to share knowledge with the rest of our site and members.

i heard if you use led bulbs of the same size as your stock ones, they will fit because they do not because the actual size of the bulb as a whole is smaller. check and see if you can twist in the bulb housing w/o the bulb in and if you can, i am almost positive that the led bulbs will work.

That is wrong, trust me! First off the brake light does fit in perfect, and so does the reverse the only one you should be having a problem with is the turn signal! Now even if you use a different bulb in the turn signal (LED BULB) it still wont work because the way the socket turns into (or screws into) the tail lights is completely different. it doesnt fit one another! so ya by getting an LED BULB your new led bulb will fit in the light, but the socket will still not hold it in place!

The brake light fits right in. The only thing that doesn't fit is the turn signals. The problem is that the hole for the turn signal in the 04 coupe tailights is too small. The 01-03 turn signal bulbs are bigger. This is the only problem. And of course there is no hole for the parking lights too, but you can just let them hang loose.

Now, I never made the conversion for the turn signals. I heard you need to buy a 04 rear harness from the dealer and unplug the 01-03 rear harness and just plug the 04 one right in. I never tried this but it sounds like it would work.

What I did was, I bought some leds from ebay which fit my 01-03 turn signal bulb. I was able to force it in the 04 turn signal socket. Just enough that the light showed. Then I taped it so that it wouldn't come loose. This worked for me. But it would be better if you can do a harness swap. I think that is the way to go. I don't really know if anyone has done the harness swap yet though.

I have the 2004 tails on my 2001 Coupe....fully functional. I got the Honda 2004 rear wiring harness and two Honda 2004 turn signal sockets along with a couple of 7440 bulbs and it was all plug-n-play! Spend the money and do it right...it looks sweet.

Umm, i explained this in at least three threads about the 04 tail swap onto the 01-03. Theres a thread about halfway down this page where I described it titled 04 tails. I also described the process in several thread in the lighting subforum in ICE. The reason it wont fit is because the bulb size is different. you could dremel the holster, but I wouldn't . I'd buy either the total 04 tail wiring, or the bulbholster. also, you'll probably find that the side marker bulb has no where to go. thats cause they did away with that bulb on the 04 tails. search please, or at least scroll down. I'm not going through the process yet again.
