problem: i own an automatic
when my parents first bought my used 96 civic coupe ex, it was aight. then i got a job and started ICEing it, and it became cooler. but now, i wanna work on performance stuff, but its automatic. a lot of ppl recommend to sell my car and install my ICE into another used civic, but w/ MT. i was thinking of changing my transmission to manual, but ppl say that costs too much (btw, how much is changing a AT to MT?). what do u guys recommend? i wanna add more power and control to my civic ex coupe, but i don't plan to race ferarris or anything like that

well IMO i would trade in for a newer MT car (doesnt have to be a civic either) and transfer the ICE over. if you want a truer performance car, ICE isnt usually part of the deal but unless you make a custom set up you can always pull out the subs when you wanna run.

well, my q isn't "auto to manual." its that i started out my car as ICE, and now that i think i'm done, i wanna move into performance. but, my friends say i shjouldn't waste money on performance on an auto civic.
my q is:
what options do i have? i don't want to get rid of my ICE, and i don't plan to race 1/4 miles. if i do race, i'll just take them out.

if you want mainly performance then you want the least amount of weight... So, You can get even more money if you sell the I.C.E.?
"well, my q isn't "auto to manual." > Actually it is... You are done with your ICE, So now the next step was...

first of all, changing AT to MT was ONE of my options i was asking about. my question wasn't just about transmission, but rather if it was worth putting money into performance (i'm not talking about just transmission) in an auto civic. another option i mentioned was buying another car
i also never said i wanted only performance. i thought i made it clear that i wanted some ICE and some performance. i thought i also made it clear that i'm not considering performance in goals to race or anything like that. i just want more CONTROL, but some ppl say that a civic auto wouldn't respond much to intakes and headers, etc., and a auto civic is even worse
btw, i did a search after u told me to. i typed in "auto," "transmission," etc. there were too many threads that did not apply to my situtation (in fact, all of them didn't). if u can, copy and paste the url of the thread w/ somebody w/ my situation. if u can recommend a keyword i can use, why don't u tell it to me instead of telling me to search. (SEARCH FOR WHAT KEYWORD? IF YOU KNOW ONE, WHY WON'T YOU JUST TELL ME, CUZ I TRIED AND GOT NOTHING)
i thought these forums were made to help ppl who want info on civics, but it seems like you're trying as much as possible to prevent others from asking. i've been on otehr forums, and the most useless way to help somebody (esp newbies) is by telling them that asking questions is looked down upon in that forum. well, maybe that's only my opinion of what "help" is...
