SUBURBAN backed into my car!

So I'm eating at tac bell today when this lady is looking at the front of my car strangely. She comes inside and asks me if that is my car, very nervously I reply "yess..." then she goes well I hit it, but don't worry it is ust a scratch. I get outside, already flaming pissed only to find that the whole hood is bent up and there is a huge gash/hole in my front bumper! Trying to keep my composure, I got all of her information and reported the claim. My question is, is there any way I can just take the money the insurance company will spend and put the parts on myself? Has something like this happened to anyone here? Since I have an aftermarket grille and front lip will that affect anything? I want to get a CF hood and a Tsunami front bumper, would I be able to do that?

moving this to members rides....I dont see the insurance company doing anything for you unless the car is fixed by a shop. If you want to put aftermarket parts on the car, like a custom bumper and a cf hood...there are some shops that will do that. You just have to find one that is willing to do it.

If you want the money from the aftermarket parts on your car you will have to show them receipts for the parts. But they will give you the money to either take it to a shop or fit it yourself...that is what happened to me twice now...

that really sucks...im sorry to hear about that. I would have exploded on that chick if she said that it was just a scratch, and i found a huge dent in my car.

it probably depends on what insurance company you have. i think they all work differently. the only experience i've had was the shop sending the invoice to the insurance company and then they paid for it.
