Installed my Revo Short Shifter
I just installed the Revo Short shifter in my 2003 LX today. I had also order the aluminium brushings and the rubber washer thingys from the other members of this site. The final result is my car is so sweet to shift now! Very short throw compared to stock.
Notes for anyone else doing this install.
1. CapYodas brushing kit were techinally smaller than I would have hoped for, I expected them to fill the hole completely. They work fine, just it is a shame they weren't made to fit perfectly to insure good alignment.
2. On the 2003 with the "stock" armrest console you have to remove the rubber liner in the armrest pocket to get at a hidden bolt to free everything up.
3. To disengage the secondary cable you have to rotate the assembly at the shifter 90 degrees counter clockwise. There is a "stop" on the shifter to prevent you from turnng it the wrong way. Once you rotate the assembly it comes right out.
4. I had to "sand" down the rubber washers to about half thier original thickness in order to get the clip in.
5. Why in "Vailens" name doesn't the Revo ship pre-lubed from the factory.
6. My wife totally doesn't understand why I replaced the shifter, I just told her it makes the car go faster and she moved on to having me take out the garbage.

Mine is on the way, I also have capyoda's bushings. I have a 2001. How was the install? Are there instructions? Mine will be here tommorow? Is the stock shifter assembly pretty much self explanitory? Thanks for any input you might have.

I also have the bushings on my 02 EX. Install is real simple on 01 and 02. Comes with instructions. Feels nice and crisp.
On a side note, I also put the bushing kit in my brother's RSX-S. Interesting that the stock rubber bushings in the RSX are way harder than the civic. Almost didn't need the bushing kit there. Why didn't they put the same in the civic to start with?
Anyway, 20minutes tops to install. Piece of cake.

Is it just me or do some of the gears feel like they aren't fully engaged when I slide the shifter in place? Like sometimes I put it in first..and I have to take it out...release the clutch...and put it back in. Not sure if it is all in my mind or not. The other day I missed third (and no I'm not a bad driver..been driving a stick longer than a few of the members here have been alive) Might just be me, but thought I would see if anyone else noticed this before taking the shifter out and seeing if I did anything wrong.

Mine seems to go right into gear, I actually "feel" it changing gears better now than stock.
Yes it comes with "basic" directions. The problemsome "vague" issues for me were the removal of the console and the removal of the secondary shift cable. Not counting those two parts it took me longer to "lube" the shifter than actually install it.

You can use white lithium grease or "Lubrex" (comes in a small toothpaste like tube) and smear it around the ball inside the shifter base. Also a dab on any parts that rub together when changing gears. Lubrex is also good for the area where the shift cable goes into it's sleeve.
