You might just blow the LED bulb. The resistor is there so that it can regulate the amount of current going to the bulb. Since one LED bulb uses only about 3.6 volts/5.0 volts, putting 12+ volts can surely decrease the life of the bulb. Hope that this helped.

Nice... I was just debating on doing that myself. I have a 2003 LX and the gauges look awesome in blue and red... but theyn they messed it all up by putting those pea green lights in for the controls.. definately reading that DIY link.
