For anybody that has blacked out their headlights

Im gonna be blacking them out soon. I want to find a glossy black paint thats also kinda transparent. I just dont want it to be solid black. Do yall have any suggestions on what kind of paint to use. Also, how did yall apply the paint? Thanks.

I used flat black, hi temp engine bay paint. The only prep work i did was a light sand on the chrome parts i wanted to sand (maybe 255 grit). I just wanted to rough up the surface. Then i applied 4 coats to each housing. Make sure you seal them up REALLY well, mine fogged the first time i resealed so i had to do it all over again.
