Question Lowering and Speed Bumps..

I currently have Intrax Springs of 2" drop in front and 1.8" in the back. I also have an Apexi Cat Back exhaust on my car. And if you look under the car you can see the piping sagging below the car (maybe because of size?). Anyway, for now when I go over speed bumps (oh so slowly) I do not hit anything. However if I decide to put a body kit on now, how will I know too low is too low? I mean, I don't want to go over a speed bump and (CRACK) there goes my side skirts. Any suggestions? Is there a standard for all speed bumps when they are made? (I know, lame question) so that maybe I can judge how low is too low when side skirts are on? I don't want to spend money on a body kit just to destroy it. I am sure you all understand that. So....Please help =)

I figure if I take a measure of how far the pipe is from the bottom of the sides of the car now and take that difference and see if the skirts fall below this value this might work in theory.

speed bumps actually vary.. I think a 2 inch drop will be okay. just er.. be careful going over a speed bump.

hmm. hopefully someone with a kit and a drop can answer your question.

Well, depends on a few factors. How big are your rims?

I had a Xenon kit, with 16s and if there were 3 people in the car there was not even an inch of clearance on the bodykit in certain spots.

But then I threw on 18's and now I have plenty of clearance.

Speed bumps vary. There's this one center in Chinatown down here with huge speed bumps, they're there intentionally because they know otherwise a lot of ricers would speed through that lot to show off to little girls.

I once went over the bigest speed bumps in the world, even sideways I scrathced the heck out the bottom of my car and I even cried the whole way cuz it was just a horrible noise. took me like 5 seconds to get through it. I had no choice though the entrance was only one way and the exit had those speed bumps. This was in TJ so I don't think they have those anywhere in the US, not as big at least

yeah..

Right now I do go sideways even without a kit. But with one, oh I would just die if I cracked it.

I think what I will do is find the bigges speed bump I can around here and measure it. Then I will call or e-mail the manufacturer of the body kit components that I want to put on and get the dimentions of those. Then I will measure that way to see if it falls too short. (yeah I am just a little involved in this, but cash is cash and I want to make it well spent)

BTW, I am going to an 18" rim. Hopefully soon. But I have to sell my 17's. I love them, but I want the more rim and less tire look.
