Need help ASAP (Neuspeed installation)
Hey
My bf is installing my neuspeed sport springs right now! Woohoo, no more stock car. But I have a quick question. Dead coils on top or bottom? please respond ASAP. The sun is quickly setting and we're tryin to finish tonight! Thanks

I have just put those exact spring in a week ago on my coupe. I don't like the ride but maybe you will. It is a little bouncy for me but it corner damn good.
In the front for me anyway The dead coils are on the top and in the rear they are on the bottom. Reason being that is how they best fit on the strut/shock perch.
Also the the front looks dropped a little and there isn't as much fender gap as stock. but the rear doesn't look like it dropped that much. I parked behind my neighbors civic coupe and didi9a side by side comparison there wasn't that much of a diffenence in appearence to me anyway.

PunkingCivic, its possible you got the old coupe springs(which are now sedan springs) i had them on my car at first too, the front was 1 1/2 finger gap while the rear was like 3... the rear didnt look dropped at all, called up neuspeed and got them to replace it for free. they even installed it for free. they're up in camarillo so shouldnt be too far from you.
Boyfriend figured it out
One of the springs was labeled right side up, the other upside down, and the springs dont have any taper or different sizes from top to bottom, but he installed them dead coils up in front, and the rear only fit one way.
The drop is awesome, barely 1 finger gap all the way around. With 2 people in the car the tires are just starting to tuck. The handling is awesome, and the ride is so much smoother than stock, its amazing. There are no harsh jolts or hops and bounces like with the stock springs. Plus, the car doesnt look lifted.
There will be some pics once it is all washed. Its basically bone stock other than the drop and headunit, and an LED cell phone ring indicator Broadway mirror. My boyfriend said it was a VERY easy install, and done only with hand tools, nothing special needed. There are no clanks or wierd sounds like many people complain about. All you have to do is install them correctly.
the look, feel, and ride of the car is very much improved. I've ridden in tons of lowered cars, since everyone we know mods thier rides, and these springs are the best bang for buck, and they are the best balance of comfort, handling, and practicality. Definate reccomendation.

quick question
How long have you guys been noticing the OEM shocks last while lowered? Sometimes people end up blowing them in 6 months, while others last like two years. There isn't much in the way of replacement performance shocks other than the konis that I have found, just wondering the timeline of how long my shocks are going to last. thanks

Your correct about after-market struts, Koni's are the only ones that fit at the moment. For me I'm holding out for some KYB's or Tokicos.. maybe even Bilstiens if they ever make any.

thats one of the reason why I'm still ridding on my stock springs..
that and the warranty i want to keep...
although I'm getting sick of the ride height and the soft spring and soft shock.
I got a feeling it wont last at all, I drive through some pretty bumpy roads sometimes.
it depends a good deal on ur driving location too... if you have harsh roads.. expect the shocks to die faster...
i see a lot of varient.. so i guess we really can't tell.

damn
thats not very confidence inspiring, because my car is pretty slammed. The drop was way more than 1.8 inches, which i like, but that means the shock is like 2-3 inches below its designed optimum point. I hope tokico comes out with something, because I can get a set of blues for 200, and illuminas for not much more than that. I get all my parts at dealer cost, but with the konis thats still about 500 bux. Thanks for input, and make sure to post a thread if you find out about release dates for shocks, everyone could use that info. I'm not too keen on having to cut off the base of the OEM's either, they should make the entire strut unit so no modification to OEM is required. They did a half *** job on the design due to the wierd *** steering. The little arms looked so puny, and they are held on by one bolt, and a weak cotter pin.

Yah VNlilMAN you are right I noticed the part number in the new and old part catalog and then I looked at the box and it said 4 door.
I hear you guys I love Neuspeed. They are also 15 mins from me and I can just go there and get the stuff I need. I personally didn't like the ride of the sports after a week I put the stocks back on. I just beef up all the other aspects of the suspension and then get rims. Trust me I love a lowered car and the handling that comes with it. but the damage reports I read hear regarding the struts/shocks are extremly profound. Our stock suspension components aren't beefy enought to mod with in my opinion.
Also; When I put the Neuspeed springs on I found out that my back driver strut/shock was bad the piston just fell when I took the spring off.
Next day I took it to Honda of OXNARD and they willl not do the work but will get the part for me and cover it under the warrenty and then I'll give them the core. F@#$ it I went back to stock. And also the part isn't anywhere in the states and had to ordered from Japan. Who knows when I'll get the damn thing.
Rims + Beefed suspension, minus springs and I should be fine. I really don't canyon or track race, just street racing and freeway flighing for me.
