Installed the Progress rear sway bar...

Works nicely with their front sway bar (I now have both) it gives me a little understeer. I have an LX, so I have the sway bar mounting brackets from Progress as well. I can adjust the stiffness of the sway bar a little bit by varying the angle of the end links relative to the lower control arm. At vertical (perpendicular to the ground) it's at it's maximum setting. Anything less than that decreases the stiffness of the sway bar. I'll tune it a little later to make the handling as neutral as possible. Although I think I'll do this when I drop the car and the suspension settles a bit.

The ride is very nice. It's like a tank! It's so stiff in the corners that it's scary. I took this one corner as fast as I've ever taken it today and the tires didn't screech at all. Earlier the tires used to screech so bad. I don't know what the limits of this setup are yet, but I predict that I will be able to go about 65mph in this one corner where previously my limit was 55mph.

I noticed that the rear creeks and squeeks more than usual. Especially with more people in the car. It's the chassis flexing! At first I thought that it was some of the mounting hardware or that maybe something was rubbing, but I think that's not it. I read a bunch of posts on ClubRSX.com about this and people have solved the problem with a rear strut bar. I'm looking into some JDM action now. Spoon comes to mind. Mmm... Spoon! Actually, Spoon rear strut bar and Mugen front strut bar. Both for the RSX. Both should fit the EM civic.

Anyway, I reccomend this modification 100%. If you want to go fast in the corners. Get new wheels and tires first. Then get sway bars. Then possibly strut bars. That's what's next on my suspension list of modifications anyway.

Oh yeah, I sprayed the rear with some undercoating before installing the sway bar. I noticed that the RSX's have this done, so I figure why not us...

Grey, I am going to be re-doing my whole suspension soon, but I got back-tracked by my NX kit and my bodykit.
Right now all I have is Skunk2 Coil-overs, and I want to do the Tein FLEX, with Spoon rear lower tie and front strut, and a few other components.

So my question is as follows, how do you figure that the Spoon components will fit on our car? Do you have any solid proof to back this up?
Also, the Progress sway bar you got is the Tie Bar/Sway bar combination isn't it?

Good choice with the Tein Flex. Best bang for the buck right now. Especially with the adjustable camber plates. No need for those stipid cam bolt camber kits up front. I have the SPC front camber kit and I think it's a stupid design.

I took a look at the installation on ClubRSX.com and it seems the same as our car. The chassis of the RSX and the 2002 Si and the 2001 Civic and the CR-V is basically the same. Honda wanted to save money, so they made a universal chassis that they could reuse. All of the sheet metal and what not below the door lines and the fender lines and in betwean the strut towers is probably exactly the same. At least that's what the case seems to be from various pictures that I've seen.

I mean for the Mugen front strut bar I'm basically 99% sure that it will fit on the EM Civics (2001+). It'll even fit on the EP Civics (2002 Si's). Although with the EP's you'de have to relocate a couple of things. Some reservoirs and some brake lines. Kinda a toughie. With our EM's there's nothing to relocate. Everything should fit as it should. Maybe you'de have to move the little clutch reservoir down a little bit. Maybe. I can't tell from all of the pictures because of the angles.

For the Spoon rear strut bar it's the same story. The length is the same. It looks exactly the same as ours under the carpet. I'm less sure of this since I just have a few pictures to go on and I've never seen it up close yet. I'de say I'm 60% sure on this though. I'll know more when I directly compare the two trunks by printing out a picture and looking at my trunk. I bet it'll be the same though. I want some JDM parts damn it! Spoon rear strut bar and Mugen front strut bar. You know, then I could floss some stickers!

Yep, best bang for the buck IMO.

hey grey, I put my rear sway bar on and noticed that there are very loud knocking noises sometimes. I read that you said it was chassis flex but did it sound like somthing was knocking on the bottom of the car or what? I was just wondering, and the rear upper strut bar should fix this huh?

I've had it for just a few days now, so I can't say for certain that it's not a knocking noise. I don't think it is though. To me it's more like a creeking noise. The creeking noises were reportedly fixed with a rear strut bar. Some people on ClubRSX.com said this...

Haha, JDM. Well actually, a few months back, I measured the distance between my chassis and a RSX Type S, and it was pretty close. The only thing I question is the bolt pattern on the top of the shock tower...is it in the same place?

being that guys have used the RSX tein flex on our civics, the bolt pattern in the same. the same complete suspension bolts up, so the distance across the chassis should be equal. i had been planning to add all 4 spoon support bars soon. when u do it, ill be sure to let all know what works, and what does not..
