great deal on H&R cup kit
Link on groupbuycenter.com if you cared
ok that cup kit for 585 is like buying shocks and springs correct?
i was thinking of buying tokicos and maybe neuspeed race, but i think if i get springs and shocks that were made for each other it should be better?
also does anyone have pics of what this drop will look like... i've heard either 2.0-1.7 in to 2.5-2.25... and thats a pretty big difference.
how hard is the install for these? is it DIY'able?

since the springs and struts are matched, it should handle well. this is DIY able, but you will need a spring compressor, (can rent for free with a deposit at autozone) I didnt see a drop spec listed...thats a hella good price tho.

I'm in!!
If I remember Right, Either Honda Tuning or Import Tuner did a test of all the available spring and strut assemblies available to us
And concluded that the H&R's were the best of the bunch.

The guy lives in WA. If I can save on shipping, then I would get it, but I'd have to pay $17 more because of Sales Tax.
I checked H&R's site and the CupKit will give you a 2/1.75 drop... very nice compared to the Sport Springs.

I just got an Email form Speed Driven Performance,
Unfortunately the cup kit for the 01 civic is still in R&D. If you wish, we can update you when it comes out.

$585 is not that cheap because these shocks are not adjustable. Plus you don't know how soft the springs are. For another $60 you can get Konis and H&R or Eibach springs on your own.
The best thing to do is to get a set of Koni Yellows (adjustable) and a set of H&R Sports springs. I raced on H&R sports for 3yrs and they held up well and didn't sag. The Konis are excellent shocks and most likely superior to H&R's, because Koni has been making shocks way longer than H&R and they only sell shocks and nothing else. Plus they give you the adjustability which once you experience it, you can't live without. You can change your car's handling characteristics (understeer/oversteer/more neutral, more/less responsive, etc.) any time you want. It's almost every auto-xer's choice (over Tokikos and all others) and you can't beat its quality and reliability for street/race shock at that price. Konis can also be rebuilt and custom valved. Not too many shock manufacturers do that.
Tokiko will probably come out with a better deal and give you adjustable shocks. If you look at the Tokiko kit that's out today for the Integra and older Civics, it's $550 for the Illumina adj. shocks and the set of springs. Much better deal than the H&R kit which you have no ajdustability.
I also think 2"+ is too much of a drop and it has adverse affects on handling, suspension bushings and other components. I wouldn't drop my '01 Civic more than 1.25". My GSR doesn' t handle as well when I drop it 2" or even 1.75" and I have 475/400lb Eibach ERS springs with Konis. The ideal drop (in the Integra) seems to be around 1.5" and gives me the fastest times when I autocross race.
Also consider how long it's taking H&R to come out with this kit. They 've been advertising it for almost 6mos now and it's still not ready. You should buy components from manufacturers that are well known for something. H&R is known for their springs and that's what they 've always been good at. Koni is the shock leader and are known for their shocks. If H&R came out and said Koni has developed the shocks in their cup kit, or Koni is the OEM, I 'd grab it in a second, probably even if they 're not adjustable.

only problem i see with getting koni's over h&r's cup kit is the shock lenght.
konis are designed to also be used to stock springs if needed... you slap on 2" lowering springs on it and now the konis are compressed 2" all the time. puts more stress on the shock and have a better chance of bottoming out.
now with the h&rs, i'm sure since it designed for the 2" drop and spring rate it is a great match. the shocks should be shortened so that you retain full-stroke.
i personally would go with the cup kit rather then a koni + spring setup.
but then again, i dont auto-cross, i like my car slammed(i think 2" is perfect for a daily driver). yes i wouldnt have the dampening adjustability but hey my stock shocks dont either n i'm fine with that so

ok but if these arent available yet, how does the group buy work? do you just wait for them to be released?
because then i might as well wait and see what tokico comes out with in like a month or two

And to top it all off, THe H&R rep said that the Civic version of the cup kit is both ride height and Dampining adjustible.
are you sure about that Zzyx? The Civic cup kit will be both ride height adjustable AND come come with adjustable shocks? Then it's a steal! That's basically a full coilover set then.. But I don't see any mention of that anywhere. I personally think that guy was full of it because the price is way to low.
