Calling all autocrossers
I figured I'd go right to where the autocrossers probbily hang out the most.
Anyway, I'm looking into buying a new Civic.
It's a toss up between the LX and EX right now. EX for motor, LX for no sunroof.
What car do you own, how does it run, what mods do you have, what do you want to do with it?
Any general info you can give me?
I'm not looking for a FTD car. I want something that will hold it's own, be fun to drive, have enough pull, and be relyable for 100K miles.
If I had the car today my mods would be:
Progress springs and rear swaybar/tie bar, upper F/R stressbars, 16" light weight wheels and good tires.
Thanks for ANY help you can give me!

Yippie! Another Autocrosser!
I run with a 2001 ex, no problems so far.
so far all I have is H&R springs, Neuspeed F.U.S.B. and 17X7 wheels with Flaken ZIEX 205/45ZR17's. I should be running 215's or 225's.
The only problem ive found is that it tends to push going in to the corners.
The falken's are a little old, I've blown 2 tires on the street, damb construction, so I have 2 tires that are 2 years old and 2 that are about 6 months old. the older tires are worn down to racing tread depth, but because of their age and the number of times they have been heatcycled the compound has changed so they stick less then the new unshaved tires.
Its the end of the season for the local club out here, so I Have 2 months till the next race. In that time I plan to add a rear antisway bar, replace the front antisway bars bushings, and add as many chassis reinforcements as my class, STS, will allow.
I'm also looking to get a different set of wheels Probably 16 x 7.0 Ive been looking at 5zigen FN01R-C wheels, they're light and cheap which is good for a racer on a budget like me, and wraping them it Falken Azeins Sport tires. Every one Ive talked to at the track who had them Has loved them. And onec again They perform well and they are inexpensive.
What class do you want to race in? with Progress springs and rear swaybar/tie bar, upper F/R stressbars, 16" light weight wheels and good tires you would be bumped out of Stock classes. You could run SP or STS with that setup.

Hey. Glad to hear you're into AutoX. Well. I ran with SVTOA (Special Vehicle Team Owner's Association). It's pretty much all Ford SVT vehicles but the coordinator is cool enough to let anyone in who really wants to participate. You can get more details from my runs and you can also compare times with the links from here...
SVTOA Auto Cross Thread
Neuspeed Sport Springs (2dr version)
Koni Adjustable Shocks
18" Primax Wheels
215/40/ZR18 Yokohama Parada Spec-2
With that setup I was not only keeping up with supercharged mustangs, but I was beating them. I made really good time for my first time and for the cheap car I drive.
Keep in mind also that I do NOT have a rear sway bar AT ALL. I have a DX (don't buy a DX ). Put thankfully progress just released a kit that will allow me to attach one. That and the 22mm rear sway bar are now on their way. : )
