Budget performance suspension thoughts?
Budget performance suspension thoughts?
Hey all!
I'm in a situation I'd like some input on regarding my EM2 suspension!
Current suspension setup:
I needed new shocks so I found really cheap RSX rear KYB Excel-Gs ($10 each from craigslist) and modified them to fit onto my car.
I also got decently cheap EP3 front KYB Excel-Gs ($40 each) that are also installed.
Currently on stock EM2 springs all the way around. For those that are curious, the car is rather stiff, handles well, but with significant body roll despite also having a 2006 RSX type s rear sway bar.
New springs?
I am currently thinking about improving the handling of my car now with new springs. I'm particularly interested in Eibachs pro-kit progressive springs.
My question here is whether or not my current shock setup can handle the Eibachs. I know Excel-Gs are just OEM replacements and not designed for stiffer springs... but given I have Excel-Gs made for vehicles with much stiffer springs than EM2s, does anyone think I can run the Eibach pro-kit springs longterm with these shocks?
Also if anyone has any experience relating to the Eibach pro-kit on EM2s, I'd love to hear it!

Re: Budget performance suspension thoughts?
From a quick Google search it sounds like you would be fine with stock EP3/RSX struts for a while, someone mentioned 15-20k miles. Those springs will only lower the front an inch and the rear 1.4 inches.
Re: Budget performance suspension thoughts?
I had the Sportline kit and the car did not sit level. Ride was good. Stock shocks could handle the Pro kit for a while.
Get coilovers. Tein makes a great budget set!!

Re: Budget performance suspension thoughts?
Thanks for the input guys! I'm hoping to find the best bang for buck to reduce body roll while keeping the car practical (I deal with snow and potholes so nothing over a 1" drop). Unfortunately, the car is getting old, so I'd rather not invest too much money onto it.
Anyone have experience with the prokits on EM2? Was the ride better? Any need for camber kits?
