rsx rear sway bar
rsx rear sway bar
Finally got this thing installed and I have to admit that it was much more difficult than I expected. The endlink nuts were completely rusted in and wouldn't budge even after soaking it in wd-40 and heating it up. One of the ball joint on the endlinks even popped out and the inside had no grease and was all rusted up. I ended up taking a grinder and cutting both endlinks off which mean't I had to drop by the dealer to pick up some brand new ones but that was okay with me since the old ones were making funny noises on turns. Installing the bar was super easy after removing the endlinks.
After taking it for a test drive, I can't believe how much of a difference a 7mm thicker sway bar made. There's a lot less body roll, handling is much more responsive, and now I can take turns faster without feeling like the car is gonna flip over.
I think this is one of the best upgrades for the price. My civic handles like my dad's bmw now, okay maybe not lol but it is a HUGE improvement from before.

Re: rsx rear sway bar
I honestly was pretty skeptical when others said the difference was night and day. I should have done this swap a long time ago...
Yea I guess I should have but since the dealer was a 10 min walk away I had the car on jackstands and wheels off, I didn't want to have to wait. I'll keep that in mind the next time I have to replace the endlinks tho.

Re: rsx rear sway bar
Well I just found out that the nut used to hold the end link and the sway bar is suppose to be a lock nut but I remember when I did the installation, all 4 nuts that came with the end links were just regular nuts.
Should I replace the regular nuts with lock nuts or will the regular ones be fine?

It'll probably be alright without lock nuts, but I would go back and do it right regardless, spare any potential headaches down the road and it should all come apart nicely anyway.
Re: rsx rear sway bar
Oh yeah, I found a Type-S rear sway bar at a wreckers nearby.
I liked how it bolted in perfectly with existing bushings, but my endlinks were totaled. Had to get new ones.
The upgrade made a huge difference for me as well.
