help me

Am i going crazy? My rear tires look like they are slanting in all crazy. I have ground control coil overs on the car. They were on there when I bought the car about two years ago. Im no mechanic but im not an idiot either. Can the coilovers do this over time? Does it mean I need new suspension?

Re: help me

How hard are these camber kits to install? Where is the best place to get one? Will it mess anything else up by driving it with the wheels tilted like that?

Re: help me

dunno from what I've heard it shouldnt be too difficult since you already have the knowledge of dropping the ride. Best place to get one is wherever you can find it. make sure to get the front and rear. You probably shouldnt drive too long on it but again i'm not sure there are plenty of threads about this elsewhere search for camber kits or check out the suspension thread.

Re: help me

what i dont get is why did it do this all of the sudden? These coilovers have been on there for at least two years if not longer.

Re: help me

it just happens over time. The camber kit stops that from happening but I guess your lucky enough to not need to for that long or you just didnt notice it until it was pretty major.

Re: help me

its called sagging it happens with cheap coils over time get rid of those ebay coils. i would get ingalls camber kits front and back. if you can use a wrench you can put those in.

Re: help me

go with the spc controlling arm rear camber kit, and maybe ingalls bolts for the front. both easy to install

Re: help me

usually its only the rears that need the kit, thats the expensive one. the fronts are just adjustable bolts and they are cheap enough i think maybe $20 so just get them anyway if they need it. i would just have an alignment shop install the camber kit that way they can align it right away after theyre done.

Re: help me

Clarification, your car already has a camber kit- its stock, its just not adjustable. You need an adjustable one, which all aftermarket ones are adjustable. I have a Ksport camber kit, it goes for about 120ish or so. There is no reason to pick up an uber expensive one like the SPC kit, it does the same **** for a cheaper price. Depends on what your looking for really, they all are different colors for thta bling factor- megans are blue, ksports are orange, spc is black, etc...

Re: help me

awesome thanks guys. What are the best struts for the price? I am considering just putting a new suspension on because I live near chicago and the potholes and snow make haveing a lowered car very impractical. However, I think it looks ten times better lowered.

Re: help me

i think tokico blues are a good buy for the price, decent shock and cheap for upto a 1.5 inch drop.

Re: help me

tokicos are affordable as well as kyb's, but anything pas 1.5 inches, you'll need koni yellows or bilsteins, and that'll cost.

Still i find a problem being that you have coilovers. when i ran GC coils, i found koni's barely match the spring rates and i rode at full stiff to keep them from bouncing. maybe you should consider better shocks or progressive springs.

Re: help me

How much drop should I have for what I want. Will 1.5 inches look good and be practical when it snows?

Re: help me

Ok, I got the ingalls camber kit installed. It wasnt that hard except for getting the two back bolts back in was kind of a pain. Now its alignment time right?

When I go get the alignment done they will adjust the camber too right?

Re: help me

yeah they will adjust everything to spec. i personally would not go lower than 1 inch. i get the occasional scrapes on my exhaust and front bumper from deep driveways and bumps, and the ride is pretty stiff over bumps (esp in winter), but overall i like the handling and its a good sacrifice of comfort for performance. ive been in other cars 2 inch and lower and feel like im car sick after a 10 min drive.
