Tein s-tech springs on OEM shocks
Tein s-tech springs on OEM shocks
does anyone have Tein S-techs on OEM shocks (or OEM replacements) I am thinking about trying them on my 2001 coupe with 17s. Just let me know how the ride is, drop, any rub..etc.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Tein s-tech springs on OEM shocks

I guess its better to hold off until i get the money then to blow the stock shocks. I wonder why Tein advertising them on there website that they are made to be used with OEM shocks. hmm very deceiving..
Re: Tein s-tech springs on OEM shocks
Also gearbox, do you know anything about Eibach Pro-kit springs?...they give about a 1 inch drop(a little more than H-techs but less than S-techs). Would those be able 2 be used with OEM shocks?

i have prokit, and i used em with stock shocks for 3 yrs. it wasnt fun, the car would bounce alot and bottom out over bumps. i think they lasted a few months before finally leaking. i have tokico HP shocks now and they are really nice with the prokit. also with oem shocks, the rear springs would sag and be lower than the front. now with the new aftermarket shocks, the car has an even two finger gap front and back.
Re: Tein s-tech springs on OEM shocks
Looks nice!..Thats the exact drop i want with my 17s. Theres no way i can spend ~$1000 for aftermarket shocks, thats why i was wondering about just aftermarket springs, but im not gonna risk messing anything up. Looks like im staying at stock height unless i can find a deal on some used shocks somewhere....keep an eye out 4 me haha

You'd save a bunch of money if you installed stuff yourself. Is that an option or do you not have the facilities to do it yourself?
Re: Tein s-tech springs on OEM shocks
I'm not too educated in the car area. I know some stuff but i dont think i could do something that big. But your right, that would save alotta money..

Honestly, its not that big of a task. Unscrewing some nuts and lots of wiggling and your good to go. The money saved will be worth your time. Just set aside a day and go at it. Just jump on and post if your come across any problems
Re: Tein s-tech springs on OEM shocks
IF you say so man.haha I looked at the DIY on here. I guess its not too bad.. I still need some Shocks & springs.. preferably $500ish...any ideas on that?

I'm on Tokico blues and stock springs. I think the blues/prokit would be the most reliable way to get a cheap drop. Look around the forums for a used prokit. I found my blues on ebay for a little more than 300 bucks new.

yeah used prokit for 100 maybe, used tokico around 250 (or 320 new), camber kits 125, and really thats all you need for parts. install for everything is maybe 250 and another 50 for alignment. i think you could get everything around 800 installed or less.
Re: Tein s-tech springs on OEM shocks
I have been looking on here the past few weeks..not many springs being sold. $300 for the blues doesnt sound half bad. Is your ride quality improved?

Re: Tein s-tech springs on OEM shocks
Over my blown rear shocks yes, it was improved. Blues are stock replacements that can handle a small drop.
Re: Tein s-tech springs on OEM shocks
Well, ill def look around, but please let me know if you see anything 4 sale other places. I'd appreciate it. I'd like to have this all installed by summer!!
Re: Tein s-tech springs on OEM shocks
Stock replacements....o yea, i 4got to tell you, but i have KYB stock replacements. I looked at them this past weekend when i had the car jacked up when I put my summer wheels on. They just said KYB Gas Replacement...??? I'm guessing they cant handle a drop...

Jump on kyb site and see what drop they can handle. You might get to save some money if you don't have to buy shocks.

prokit and tokico is firmer than stock, but not bad. not nearly as bouncy as oem setup. but alot of it depends on tires too.

Re: Tein s-tech springs on OEM shocks
i was running the S-techs on my 01 sedan, with new replacement OEM struts, I didnt notice anything or have any problems, other than the crappy ride. I only had 5,000 miles on the s-techs and ane OEM struts before i traded the civic for a 4X4 Xterra. I should have kept the civic... anyhow, I wouldnt do the S-techs again. I have a 97 coupe now, and i'm gonna get some coil overs.
