Ksport Camber Question (Calling all Ksport owners)

Hey guys,

I've been trying to work out the kinks in my Ksports, which right now has led me to notice that my left front tire is almost bald on the inside inch or two. When it was aligned, the mechanic told me that it was maxed out on adjustment (which it is, I double checked the camber plate) but within spec. Even so, it's wearing the tire BAD, and I'm gonna have to get two new fronts.

My question is whether or not I can add camber adjusting bolts to add more adjustment. One of the holes that holds hub on has the ability to slide some (it's more oval), so I'm not sure if it would work. I also had to move the hub to re-torque the bolts after they loosed up. I'm not sure if the hub can be adjusted independent of the camber plate to add more adjustment using the oval holes.

Any ideas or input?

Use the hole on the top of the hub mount to get the camber back more towards less tire wear. Our cars also usually wear on the inside because of other reasons. Also check your toe because that will effect tire wear a lot more then camber. You can also flip your tires to make them last longer when unevenly worn.

Killing tires is an indication that your toe is off, not the camber. Camber will show on the inner edge to a minor extent. Running tires bald is a toe error.

yep. you could run some serious negative camber but it'd take a long time for your tires to actually run BALD.

Re: Ksport Camber Question (Calling all Ksport owners)

When I say bald, its not the whole tire. Bald probabaly isn't the word. It's only the inside inch or two, so I'm pretty sure it's camber. If it were toe, I would expect a more even wear. I'm pretty sure the toe is off, but I still think there is a camber issue.

So camber bolts would probably be just unnecessary since it has the adjustable hole?

The camber bolt will not help, because it is already slotted for camber adjustment. Just make sure the bolt is not slipping after alignment, and make sure the top is all the way adjusted. You can make use of all 3 holes on top if needed you should be able to zero it out.

Re: Ksport Camber Question (Calling all Ksport owners)

Hi

I'm just in this kind of situation right now...did a search and went on this website...

I have a Impreza GC8. Had the KYB AGX suspension and i just change to KSport. With the KYB i had an Oval Camber Bolt for the adjustment.

The guy from the garage, specialist subaru installed everything. On the first test drive, it was great btw, but the right rear tire coil was in contact with the tire...

So far it seem like something he forgot to chk. The next day, we fixed everything and i was able to put my hand between the tire and the coil of each wheel. Not 10 minutes later, my left rear tire just blew up because of the contact with the coil ...

The top mount of the KSport hole is slotted... (not like the KYB, thats why i needed an Oval Camber Bolt to adjust the camber)
We suspected that the Oval Camber Bolt, smaller in size, may be the cause, perhaps it was just not strong enought to keep it in place...

He replace the 2 rear bolt.... i've done perhaps 90 minutes of road with a spare tire, seem fine...
It smell a bit, but that might be just the rest of the flat tire, had **** everywhere.... we remove the biggest part....

The thing that **** me off is not the flat tire, its the fact that i had Perfect KSport and now both rear Coil is missing a 3 cm of rubber on one branch of the coil.... Were still putting a product that looks like rubber but still they aint perfect anymore

Wednesday, i'm changing my mags and wheels (of course) from 16 to 17, 7'' to 8''
but i'm afraid of that....anyway this will all be done in a subaru garage.... and i shoudln't need spacer
